Didn't Livo play as a forward in his junior days?

Haha, and obviously nobody rates Zac Dawson … if you watched On the couch tonight, or the game against the Cats last weekend, you might change your view.

Anyone that thinks we're going to beat Hawthorn without a fight is nuts.

Kept Kingsley to no goals IIRC.
But the way he plays his silly at times. I made a special effort to watch his game on the weekend and he zoned off Kingsley too much. At one point he was a good 3-4 metres off him and wrongly anticipated the flight of the ball by a country mile and allowed Kingsley to take the easy mark.

Yeah we'll be fighting tooth and nail to beat the Hawks, but whoever plays on Dawson should give him a bit of bath.

I know livo was the standout CHF in the TAC cup, but was he played down back immediately for us? I remember in one of his first games he wore long sleaves and was doing a lot of dashing and recieving and I thought he was going to be a real positive for us, but those memories have been replaced by an enduring image of him lagging a meter behind his opponent on the lead.

I'd love to see him get a go in the forward line for us. I know the majority of punters on here want to get as many teenagers playing as possible, but i don't think any of them have shown enough to warrant selection whereas it seems like livo, sporn and chambers are all fit (for about the first time) and should be given a decent chance to show whether they are worth holding on to passed this trade/delisting period. They are all very young players and represent first round draft investments.

FWIW short passing in the backline is a different skill to set shots for goal, so I wouldn't rule out livo as a forward option based on his heart-in-mouth defensive passes, If he can take a grab and split a pack he's worth throwing down forward - we have simmo, murph and betts playing as goal kickers at the front of packs, we just need someone to create a contest.

Keeping Kingsley to no goals is no big deal. He's very hot & cold. (Just our luck for him to be hot in the NAB Cup game)!

I've been saying for years to play Livingston in the forward line, not the back line, but nothing really came out of it and i presume nothing will,i think the club took too long to try him out there last year for more then 1 game,at least 5 in a row and i think i'll be suprised now if he would get the chance now.

He can't play in the forward, in fact he can't play anywhere, we have tried to play him in the forward in VFL games last year or the year before, and he was shit!!!

My thoughts exactly, Hawks don't really have a tall forward line, Lance can play forward, he is in great form IMO.

Really shows how desperate we are given our injuries and possible suspension. When Lappin got injured, we were left with one key forward in Fevola who had more blokes on him than at a gay nightclub. Our foward line set up has little chance of kicking a winning score without Lance up there. No use osoting out the defence because we cannot kick a winning score without Lance there and supported by the likes of a Longmuir in the absence of Fev, Waite, Lappin and Fisher.

We have lost too much marking power to be able to trouble their backmen. I like the idea of Setanta up forward because even though he may not kick a bag, his defensive pressure alongside Betts will force plenty a turnover. Deluca with gloves may continue his recent form and take one grabbers but he never looks like he will trouble the scoreboard. Does not have the confidence to kick goals. IF only our midfielders could fill the void.

I rate Dawson highly and he will be a very good player in a few years. The only problem with him is he isnt experienced and isnt built.

I think we should throw Setanta forward alongside Whitnall.
Deluca is useless inside 50. He doesnt create enough opportunities for us to kick a winning score.

Whitnall may enjoy the change and we know Setanta wont give up.

What about bringing Chris Bryan in and try him up forward?
I think many have forgotten about him this year after D-Mac's come in as back-up ruckman. He has a booming kick the only questions would be about his ability to take the grabs and then the accuracy too i suppose.
What do people think?

Who will pick up Trent Croad, Dixon and Franklin if Lance isn't needed in defence? :?

What happens if Fev is out and they go for a taller forwardline by throwing Roughead forward?

Lance, Thornton and Saddington have to play this week and we might need to bring Livo in.

Sorry Folks, but knowing Denis pagan well enough, NON of these wishes will come True.... NOT even a Whitnall playing Forward....

Denis is old fashioned, and his game plans are becoming too predictable..... this is my Punt on what he will do....

He will Leave Whitnall in Defence, will move Kouta to FF, whilst he will yet again play Mclaren and Deluca both deep in attack.....

The result will be very predictable...2 goals up to half time, and a thumping of 60+.......thats UNLESS Denis for once in his life listens to the supporters here and for once DOES something we all seem to think is Logical.....

Whats logical? Livo has to come in.... not neccesarily as a Forward, but Whitnall has to be freed up... he must go Forward.... Longumir or Ohalipin also need to get a game and help put Whitnall in attack... thats what logic is.....

I just pray to GOD that he does not make Mclaren a key forward.. it will be a Disaster... :(

That is exactly what will happen.

We should roll the dice with Livo up forward and see what happens, but we won't.

With Hawthorn's speedy attack, I'd much prefer to have Lance up forward.

Bannister in to play on Williams. If Bannister gets towelled, put Walker on him. Williams wouldn't be used to having someone hot on his heels on a lead.

Kouta on a flank, or pocket, or somewhere where he won't be exposed too badly. Maybe throw Kouta into the pocket and move Fisher up to the flank.

Saddington and Thornton across the half back line. Hawthorn don't have any power forwards, so there shouldn't be too much pressure on them to fight out of their weight division.

If Fev cops the week then I think Lance should go full forward. The Hawks lack experience and Lance I think should be able to get 5 goals.

Hopefully Waite and Fisher come up. Hopefully Fev gets off.

Another option is Kennedy... why not put him at FF. It would be a good much up with Dawson/ Roughead... all young players.

Man are we jinxed or what? Loosing Fish, possibly Fev and Waite all in the space of two weeks. Hartlett also did his hammy...

Our forward line can be awesome this year.

Fev's on targer to kick 60+

Waite could crack 40+

Fisher i think, barring further injuries, will have no problems kicking 30+

Throw in 20 or so goals to Betts, Simpson and maybe Kennedy and it doesnt look too bad.

We just need some luck.

As for Livo... well I think he is worse at saving goals.....

And Murphy's a star :-D :-D :-D

Kent Kingsley dropped a few sitters and the delivery was poor...... We could have easily kicked a few against Zac Dawson

I expect Dennis will FLOOD FLOOD FLOOD
