interesting article, says it all really
"Carlton was the superior team, but failed to make the best of their opportunities."

I think it is a fair statement on the game. We matched them in the middle but we just did not make the most of our opportunities. Put Fev and Waite in the forward line and it is a different story.
Some will try and make you believe it is Pagan's fault, some will try and make you believe that Walker should play on the ball etc. etc. I believe that the game I watched last night says that we are on par with Hawthorn at least. Hawthorn feel good about themselves and so should we.
If we put Fev and Waite in our side last night and just took Croad out of their side the result would have been significantly different.

POW

But the logic of that statement jbee is hardly going to induce a wrist-slashing frenzy so I think you should simply apologize for making an intelligent observation and go back to doing whatever it was you were doing prior to this outburst of levelheadedness...

The problem is with a young team you can only have so many honorable losses before they need a win to install the self belief.

We desperately need to win next week or the wheels might fall off like they did last season.

Couldn't agree more TBB.

Interestingly Fev reckons his 40 point carry over from last year would have been removed one week later, so given the same circumstances a week later a guilty plea would have got him no suspension. Just adding Fev in yesterday i reckon would've made a fair difference given our number of socring shots (and inaccurate ones).

actually as I said last night 8) take Croad and Williams out, put Fev and Waite in - who do you reckon would have won?

I reckon if Fev was in you could have left Waite out, Croad and Williams in and the result still might have been different.

yup, Fev in, a bit more score board pressure on the Hawks and a bit more belief in the Blues and anything could have happened.

I love the positive spin on a shithouse result. A superior team would have won.

There is no excuse for the way we played last night, it was shocking, how can so many of our kicks reach an opposition player... how can we call ourselves a team, when we dont even talk to eachother or help eachother out... how will we ever get the football if we do not man up and get in there and bloody tackle (HOULIHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!) instead of running towards them, doing a little circle and then running back the other way.
I really hope that last night will be a wake up call... If we play like that again, we will win the wooden spoon for the 3rd time this year.
