I just burnt my Lorraine Diggins footy card

then I got another one in a pack, so I swapped it for a Dustin Fletcher

that should teach her!

Curious thing, the inverse relationship that quantity and quality of posts so often has.

You must've been trying something right? Or are you so weak as to give up so soon?

There seems to be a lot of rage (and humour) on this thread. Fair enough, Ms D hasn't covered herself with glory.
But we are REALLY haemoraging Board members at the moment. If she is not worth her spot, lets VOTE her out, rather than publically execute her. As for replacing her with another woman, fine if there is a decent candidate. Nicole Livingstone has the advantage of a good media persona and image. However, if she is alone in this, we are in trouble.

We need talent on the board, but we don't need lynchings.

I'm curious as to how much research has gone into this witch hunt, and wheather it's based on more than just a mere paragraph in the newspaper...because if that's its only basis, God help the Carlton Football Club.

You know me. It's a beautiful relationship when you cease to amaze the other...or the end of the affair when sarcasm litters every conversation.

It's the UN.

I thought you were trying to start a movement? Read like that in the initial post.

These things take time. Don't give up.

If Lauraine Diggins was consistently providing valued input to the board (you know those people we are relying upon to make the club good again) do you think a hissy fit about who wears no 5 would make the papers?

Take the hint - read between the lines.

BTW I have no inside knowledge - however JohnM is a rational and logical poster.

No, not trying to start a movement. Just made one post and moved on. I honestly don't have the time to contribute over and over to threads.

Made the post because that story about the No.5 is not an isolated instance from what I understand. Being a director is a serious and onerous task, not a position of privilege to be exploited. Just one person's opinion. Interesting that not a single person could counter with a 'but Diggins has done this or this or this in her two years as a director'.

Haha...yeah...I understand. No-one has anything to base their opinion on other than the article, which the relevant paragraph was what? all of 3 lines?

In a court, you clowns would be laughed out of town.

Yes, I understand that my posting on a fansite based on hearsay and third-party gossip-mongering probably wouldn't serve to create a strong legal argument.

By the way, if a clown gets laughed out of town, wouldn't that be deemed as a successful outcome? Being a clown and all.

Yes. The sad clown's failure is a win for all.

I've created this as a new topic on the off-chance that at least one director of the Carlton Football Club is clued-up enough to scan supporter sites to gauge the reaction to the revelations regarding Lorraine 'My Dad Played for Carlton' Diggins.

I figured that this mythical director wouldn't bother to open topics, but just scan their titles.

But if said director DID bother to open this message, then here's the deal:

This club, or any organisation for that matter, can't afford naive self-serving idiots to be on the board. People who are only there to feel a part of the action and to stroke their own considerable ego, USED to fill up football club boards in the bad old days before professionalism caught up with AFL clubs.

I'm not just basing this on a single leaked report. I defy Diggins or any of her supporters (if she has any) to tell us exactly what she's brought to the club in the position of Director. Apart from being related to an ex-player and being female.

Diggins - get the hell out your director's position. You've relinquished all rights to that privileged position.

Absolutely galling to think that she's sitting there, and a person like Marcus Clarke isn't.

Lorraine is a passionate Carlton supporter, you shouldn't personally denigrate people because that's one of the conditions of this site or do the rules only apply when they suit you?

Oh ho! Nice try TheGame.

We are still waiting for the posts defending her work on the board.

Being a passionate Carlton supporter is great, we all love more of those, but if that was enough to sit on the board and run the club, then there are plenty of suitable applicants among the forums.

It's ok for Johnny to go calling people idiots then. Thanks just wanted to clarify that.

If being a passionate Carlton supporter is the only pre-requisite to being a positive member of the board, then there will be thousands.

Being on the board is more than that Game. Lorraine has added nothing with her tenure there, so either she puts up or pisses off and makes room for someone who will bring new things to the club.

If validly calling into question someones ability on a pubic board is "denegration" then God help the CFC. No one has put forward a cohearant argument as to her value on the board. No one.

People who indulge in personal insults drag the site down.
