Richmonds performance tonight was the worst performance I have seen from a winning side.

I raised my eyebrows when McGrath was dropped. Watching the game it seems more stupid. Playing at the MCG where you need some run, to drop one of the teams better runners was ludicrous.

Think Whitnall had to go back, Richo was murdering Thornton, and I don't think Bannister could have done the job.

The other concerning thing is how good Murphy looks in his 5th game compared to his teammates.

We could have tried Saddington on the real threat Richo.
After all Saddo is an athletic 194 cms CHB.....

Yer Murphy is a little champion really sad to see him not supported properly by his senior team mates but he is a gun and one of the only players that can hit a teamate lace out has poise and good decision making a judgement ... will make some mistakes but hey the positives far out wigh any couple of mistakes possibly made cause he isnt protected when another player is near him to shephard.

And Maybe banno may not have beaten Richo but at least if he contested better he may not have been less effective than whits allowing Whits to stay forward... When FEV / WAITE / WHIT where in the forward line we gave the tigers headaches in matchups soon as lance was moved back our forward line was far easier to overcome. so Richmond could setup a lot better attack from the backline.

And we got spanked out of the middle thats not so much Coaching problem that just shows our midfiled didnt go in hard for the friggin ball

I think the quality of playing was down because both sides are shit and were desperate for a win

Did Saddington ever play on anyone at the Swans?

I guess there are 2 reasons why Saddington wasn't tried on Richo

1. Denis has no idea what Saddo is capable of

2. Denis knows exactly what Saddo is capable of

I wish 1 was the correct answer, I suspect it is 2.

I can see the Pagan quotes tomorrow.

"We've been unlucky"

"Could of been 4-1"

"The Supporters should be proud of the boys"

"Deluca is an elite midfielder" - Ok thats a bit unrealistic

"We need Lance forward and back"

"Our supporters just need to be patient"

"We will continue with our youth policy"

"Par3 is modern footy"

I agree we have shot the season by the looks of it,i know it's round 5 but missing a important player and our major goal kicker agains't the Hawks, cost us bad, like last year and it was Richmond i think last year that put the final touches and again we f****d up a game we could win, being serious there really isn't much more games we could say we have a chance to win,it's more we hope can win.

Essendon* maybe,Collingwood there is always a chance, but they look like a top 8 this year,Brisbane maybe.probably not in Brisbane, Kangaroos maybe, the rest no way except the weaker sides we play.

I really doubt we will win any of these 8 games

Bulldogs,Geelong,Adelaide,Eagles,Pt Adelaide,St Kilda,Brisbane,Sydney

That's 12 loses 1 win

2 games against Essendon*,Collingwood

could win all 4,but won't, maybe 2 if we lucky.

Freo,Hawthorn,Richmond,Melbourne and Kangaroos could win these 4 or lose them.

so if we win 3 of those 4

I say 6 wins for the season, but if we won on Friday and last week i reckon the team would have had a lot of confidence and maybe won at least 11-12 games.

I think only Essendon*,but i doubt it will be the same or worse as us ,Brisbane has their home games that will save them,Hawks are off to a good start,Richmond still a chance, but Richardson saves them,Melbourne and Sydney might start to win some leaving me to say it's us again on the bottom or the Kangaroos, but even the Kangaroos never get written off.

Damn Dissapointed with the team, the only way out is to win those games they have no chance to win to recover the loss to Hawthorn,Richmond and possibly Swans, you can't be too happy we only lost those games, they didn't win these,we should have,it's not a lot of winnable games or even.

You talk like we were a realistic chance of making the eight.

Reality check guys - our goal is to get game time into the junior players of this list, see who can and cant play delist about 6 to 8 players and draft boys like Gibbs and Sellars in November.

....Murphy IMO had his first really bad game - missed heaps of targets and even stupidly kicked the ball deliberately out of bounds - 1 comical incident was when he kicked the ball into a richmond players head, got the ball back and did nothing till he was tackled.

He looks to me like he could use a weeks rest (no footy at all, not dropped) to recharge.

Played 5 games and played one real bad game and you want to drop him. I will let you in on a little secret the kid is going to play a few more bad games before he retires after 200 games with about 3 or 4 club best and fairests.

I dont have a problem with what he said - The post advocated giving murphy a weeks rest/break to recharge - not to be dropped.

What so he can run up to Sheparton knock some girl up and be a father at 21.

Be better off on the Park IMHO.

Richardson is a monster that runs, jumps, runs, tackles, runs, bumps marks, goals, misses.

We had nobody to match him.

Which other AFL player out there is Richardsonesque that we have to worry about now that Carey and Lockett have retired?

Well the answer will tell you the games we will lose.

We are in a far too defensive game plan, rather than attacking. FOr the first qtr last night, we looked somewhat attacking, but the wheels fell off soon after.

I have more faith in our players than that but whatever floats your boat :P

I still think giving murphy a weeks break here and there to avoid burnout is a good idea. You can also turn it into a learning experience by having young murphy in the coaches box on game day - though if that happened, I imagine it might be our coaching panel that learns something :?
