Sometimes there will be an "Anual", which is a bigger issue.

Some periodicals have a "swimsuit" issue that has very little to do with the publication except to boost sales.

We need more kids coming through with good skills and pace in the longer term and for the moment I think we need to establish a settled backline and more pace across the middle and on ball.

IMO we don't have enough quick onballers and although we have an excellent forward line we simply don't get the ball down there to them often enough to kick a winning score.

Currently Stevens is the only top class on baller we have who can run and then deliver. Both Bentick and Carrazzo are strong but don't have the pace to break away and open up the game. Kouta and Houlihan are creative and have very good skills but also don't have that breakway pace. Murphy is IMHO still 2 seasons away from being in the Stevens class on a consistent basis.

Currently opposition teams are tagging Stevens out of the game and dropping player back out of the pack to close him down at ball ups etc. so he's playing two on one becuase there is no one else.

Personally I would like to see McGrath in the side and given the back pocket role for the season with the occasional run on the ball. I can't see anyone else on the list for that position at present and his inclusion allows a lot more flexibility in the team. It frees up Simpson to play more upfield and adds more pace to the overall team.

Simpson Murphy Betts Waite Walker Russell Raso Blackwell and Kennedy appear to be the future but IMO like the Hawks we need to get another 5 first round draft picks to be added to the side. I think the jury is still out on Bower and Hartlett.

It's only a lie once you've been busted.

Dermie said during the swans game that we lacked 3-4 polished players to be a real competitive side and that you tend to get your polished players in the first and second rounds of the draft. Since we were barred from the first two rounds of the draft for two years this has hampered our recovery from our doldrums. Hence why it will be a few more years before we are competitive again. For once I agree with Dermie, we just don't have enough polished players to fill the ground and until we do don't expect much from us.

I think onfield leadership is the top point.

Many of our players went backwards with skill on Friday night, Houlihan & Scotland in particular, and it fed down to Murphy and Walks by the end of it. Simmo had run 80 metres and the weasal Scotland didn't even shepherd him - it was farcical.

There was no on-ball leadership to re-collect the attention and skill level of the boys. Ther were no shepherds other than Walker and Russell - two of our youngest players out there. With this comes a bit of pride and a bit of protection and overall some confidence in the kicks. We fell down with leadership all second half and I beleive that with a stronger effort here the boys wouldn't have been so bad.

Yes - Richmond shanked it alot, but Pagan's career is filled with winning games they shouldn't have with a direct, leading forward line. We could have stolen the game in the last but our leadership and skills were lamentable.
