Yes imagine how good Murphy would be in a good team with support.

please don't get me wrong. i do rate thomas. just getting a bit over the whole thomas band wagon thing. i think thomas is a great talent... i'd just like to see murph get the same plaudits as thomas is getting. and in terms of highlight reels, murphs goal on the run from the boundary friday night wasn't a bad effort. i know its early days and i'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself.... but geez i can see brett ratten in this kid. he is gonna go through footy largely unheralded, but we'll know what we have in our midst.

Carlton have got it wrong again.

Ryder likes to go hard at contests.

Thomas is in the media because collingwood is winning and therefore, in the media. It's hard to talk up the blues when we're at 4 and 1 and staring down the barrel of 8 and 1. I personally couldn't have imagined murphy to turn out as well as he has to date.

even if he's form drops off and he plays out the season in the magoos, he has exceeded all of my expectation already.
you just dont see that poise anymore.

i haven't seen some of that stuff since diesel i reckon. his vision in amazing.

and i love the fact that almost all of his goals have been kernahan specials. all ugly as hell off the boot but straight as an arrow.

Incredibly close across the board.

Both sides have got gems and should be really happy.

Xavier Ellis is, quite litereally, the X factor. Most likely won't play seniors this year but will be very interesting to see how he goes next season for the hawks.

If Kennedy turns out to be Pavlich then the maggies choice of a flashy wingman might turn out to be a mistake.

He is going ok Thomas.

Exactly what I was going to say.

If JK turns into the player we're hoping for, then we have struck a pot of gold.

Murph is incredibly composed as a footballer and a person for his years, and will no doubt lead the club before he is 25.

His endurance will improve over the next few months and next year, and when he can run out a game - watch out!!

Kennedy looks like the sort of leader that that will stand tall in a crisis, like Sticks, or Voss.

We should know more in a couple of months, but sh1t, we look to have picked up some class with these 2 :-D .

And if Kennedy is a dud and Pendlebury is the next Pavlich? What will you be saying then?

So you reckon we will no more in a couple of months? I reckon we won't know anything for a couple of years at least.
I'll bring it up again Judd, Ball & Hodge after a couple of months. Huge gap between all 3 of them. Judd is still the best but Hodge was long last and now he has gone past Ball who is still a very good player.

At this stage, both clubs would be very happy with their choices, but while we speak about Murphy as a future captain of our club, I'm not sure that Thomas fits into that category yet. That's not to say he won't be, but he doesn't give that impression this early.

Murphy looks more of an architect within a side, but Thomas is very talented.

More interest will be Ellis vs Thomas because at the end of the day that was the choice that Collingwood had and ditto for Pendlebury v Kennedy,Ryder, Dowler and so on....I guess it gets down to your own clubs needs...we needed a A grade ball getter and disposer of the footy and Collingwood felt they needed a goalkicker with a bit of flair...two different players so its hard to compare.....
My own view is that Collingwood gambled heavily with their first two choices given Buckley, Burns etc are at the wrong end of the age scale.....our choice was a bit easier given Murphy was such an outstanding player....I would be backing Murphy to be the better player over time....unless Thomas becomes the next Daicos....

Just a question.
Does Dale Thomas takes Chis Egan's spot ?
Can Collingwood use both ?

A fair point. I suppose you can call it depth.

I would call it a lack of confidence in Egan...maybe they see Didak or Thomas as potential midifielders down the track given that Didak played midfield for Port Adelaide Magpies..watched Egan play for Willy and wasnt impressed...seems a lazy player with an attitude problem., I predict he doesnt stay on the list and winds up at another club....
