I'd like to get the ball rolling for TC on the upcoming game. Seems we're all scared to talk about it, so as a preview for an interview coming up tomorrow I thought Mike & Dan and Heath Scotland could get it going:

8. The Pies have only beaten 1 Top 8 team – the Hawks – with their only other wins against Bottom 5 teams Port, Essendon* and the Kangaroos – whilst we’ve been close in each game. Can we knock them off?
Definitely. I’m extremely confident we’ll put in a good show. Inside the Club we know we have to put in for the full 4 quarters. I think we match up well against them. Look, in the press, they’ve won 4 in a row, have no injuries, and everything is rosy, and we know we’ll need to be red hot, but we match up well – both teams have great forward lines, both teams have good defences – and it will be won & lost in the midfield.

9. How are we going to beat the Pies? Who is going to stop Rocca and Tarrant?
The only way for us to win is with pressure in the midfield. With their forward line, if the ball comes in with no pressure they’ll kick a lot of goals. It’s going to come down to our pressure – our midfield, our defenders, our experienced players and the young guys like Betts and Murphy.

10. You have experienced the playing culture at Carlton and at Collingwood. How does the build-up to Carlton v Collingwood matches differ for each team? Is the traditional rivalry still relevant nowadays?
Yeah I think it is. At Collingwood, it was always a massive game – the next biggest after the Anzac Day I guess. We rate it highly as well - more of a crowd; a win is always on the agenda, and we always want to knock them off. The boys know that this is a big one for us.

And we stuck to 10 questions!!!!

Who will win out of the Murphy VS Thomas battle?

I know most will post "they are different but special in there own ways and cannot be compared" but i know deep down every Carlton supporter wants Murph to play a blinder and Thomas struggle this week.

Could you ask him what he thinks of Ron Goldspink as a cricket umpire?

I'll bet there will be 36 cracks on the ground and 8 on the interchange bench.

Hardly, according to Age stats, Collingwood average 4 less handling errors (dropped marks, fumbles, player dispossessed) than the next best in the competition (Richmond, 15).

Pressuring the midfield would be a good place to start because it would seem no one has been doing that, because they don't have a lot of contested marks yet are second in the league for marks inside 50.

Flood and scrag the mids, we're good at that at least. :(

I want Russell to play on Thomas and kick start his career by getting the better of him ...in fact I wouldnt mind seeing a few more younger players get a chance over the next few weeks....Blackwell needs a game either v Collingwood or Essendon* IMO.....and I want Kennedy in this week and played at CHF....

Buckley in the forward line will be their key to victory.

The last time we played them he was almost the deciding difference but he kicked poorly for goal. He is a ball magnet and one of the best marking midfielders ever. The logical idea is to stick Walker on him but I think that would be a waste for Walks. Walks really needs to go into the middle this week and cause some mayhem.

I would do Bannister on Buckley and probably look at Lappin for a match up on Didak.

And let's stack the forward line. Bring in Livo to play on Rocca, Thornton on Tarrant, and Saddington to take Fraser when up forward. Lance will be slaughtered on either Tarrant or Rocca, so play him up forward and let OUR forwards give them some headaches.

Will Josh Kennedy come in?

Sunday A few showers. Min 10 Max 16 and finally a gorilla has eaten a bag of tim-tams from a pre-schoolers lunch............
The wet will suit us if we pick the right team and not all featherweights and err on the side of those committed to the hard ball.

Our form hasn't been winning form, but how do you figure form these days :?

Dogs spank tigers,
Tigers beat lions away
Lions beat dons away
Dons beaten by the hawks
who beat the blues,
who beat melbourne
who nearly beat adelaide away.
Adelaide almost beat the eagles away.
The eagles have beaten everybody
I'm very :? :? :?

Forget what the other teams try to say, this is Carlton v Collingwood - THE rivalry IMO.

No matter how shit we are going, you always get the feeling that we might just lift for these games & this weekend is no exception.

GO BLUES

The fact is it is going to be Windy, Cold and Wet on Sunday - 15 degrees

That should help us eleviate the Rocca issue.

Maybe that is what we needed.

What's needed for Rocca is a 2 x 4 when all we have is a spoon!
