could this be an issue with player development, our facilities down at the club are sub standard which also could be a negative when trying to recruit players via the PSD.

Very much so, but let's just focus on the coach.

A bigger problem than poor facilities is outdated coaching methods. Ask the players!

ALL OF THE ABOVE NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED.

We should stop depending on the draft to get good players. We need to start developing our own A grade players.

Funny, I don't remember any of them knowing much better than you or I.

An upgrade to training facilities would have a measurable impact on player performance.

What if they had played at another AFL club. Are they not in a position to compare?

The facilities are superior to 2001.
We seemed to go alright then. :?

Things have dramatically changed in sports science in the last few years. Well more precisely in the last decade, but you only see the results 2-5 years down the track.

Stuff facilities, they never made North win premierships or play finals last year did they?

Facilities don't kick, mark or handpass.

Facilituies don't run.

Facilities don't provide passion and commitment to a contest.

Facilities don't make you kick to the opposition.

Facilities don't make you chip high balls into the F50 for our forwards to polaxed.

Facilities now help because techniques are becoming very refined and cutting edge sports science shows measurable (and significant) improvements in many important physical attributes that can be applied to football.

Players who have no brains and constantly kick to a contest instead of the free man has nothing to do with facilities.

Facilities are important.
when we have new facilities we will also need someone who knows what to do with them to improve the team.
But its more than just facilities.

I'm with Synners on this one, in principle at least.

Facilities may not make duds into footballers but it can make a good footballer and even better one with the right assistance to go with state of the art technology.

We should dare to have something like what the Hawks are setting up. Cutting-edge.

Just on this, what are the things on some of the players upper backs. I thought this was some sort of cooling pack or vest initially but I saw someone remove one when the TV cameras were in the rooms of another non-Carlton game. It looked like some sort of GPS tracking device. I would imagine you could get a very good idea of where a player ran, distance, speed, etc with these sorts of devices.

Anyone know what these are? and more importantly whether we have access to this sort of technology?

Good faciltiies in the coaching box at the G. Didn't seem to help the dinosaur and his mute offsider.
