Given the fact we are more pathetic than ever, why not play for draft picks again? It will start working sooner or later.

Most teams arent this pathetic for long. Brisbane won a spoon in 98 and 3 years later played in the first of 4 grand finals in a row. Collingwood won the spoon in 99 and 3 years later played in the first of two grand finals in a row. Carlton won the spoon in 2002 and 4 years later won another spoon. We are going no where and fast.

They reckon this years draft will be another super draft similar to 2001. We need the first two picks, big time

Agree?

Are you called Seagull because you like shitting on people from above?

First of all, Priority picks come after the first round of the draft.

You're a cheery soul, aren't you?

Tanking is pathetic, and I won't support it.

If, indeed, we are a shit as you say, then we'll naturally be at the bottom of the ladder at season's end anyway.

We need to petition to the AFL to lift the requirement to 20 premiership points, because if anyone deserves a pick before the first round it's us.

Totally agreed. ... <insert any of AGRO's quotes re AFL/Demetriou here>

We got roggered on Black Friday, and we got roggered with the PP change. Any idiot can see that we deserve assistance here.

We had the opportunity but thought 10 games was going to take us places...

And not Deledio and Franklin..

But we will come good...

start with getting rid of the coach..

Theres a neucleus there... it will come together.

I don't think we need to play for draft picks, I think we're genuinely struggling and will possibly earn them on genuine merit.

We don't have to play for draft picks, if we play the normal Pagan plan we will finish last anyway, if he changes the way we play we might win.

With what the AFL has done with the PP - we have been "double secret rear ended" if that is possible.

The Spew has proved himself to be a sneaky little shit and our board did not even let out a whimper. It is essentially a third year of draft penalties for us.

The Spew said that they went easy on us on Black Friday and this is his way of evening up the score. Filthy fat slimeball.

They should of made it less than 20 points. It achieved what the AFL wanted, to make the PP's harder to get by not allowing clubs with 5 wins to get one.

It would have also left the door open for us, undoubtedly deserving if the aim of the PP is to assist club's struggling over multiple seasons.

I know that it is early in the season to be looking at this, but... we need something to look forward to. I can't find the official link on the AFL site.

However, if a team finishes with four or fewer wins for two consecutive years, it will gain a pick at the start of the draft as is the case under the current system.

Does this mean that if we win no more than 4 games then we still qualify for a priority pick at the start of the draft this year? Last year we only won 4 games (with the one draw). That would be great if we still qualify for special consideration.

Look at the Hawks and the Magpies this year. There is a lot of difference between those two sides and us.

It's not a conscious decision we need to make.

No throwing games please.
Sheesh we are in round 6? If we are 3 wins after Rnd 21 then we should start thinking about the 2 young guns we are going to get....no sooner.

I think it's about time we all take a step back and get serious about this season. We all now know we are not world beaters. Well we're really nothing beaters at the moment but our time will come and we can argue until the cows come home about who will be there and who will be leading us. THe fact of the matter is these things take time and time we have to give! Now this is not a tanking thread..far from it...however this is more of a question out to all those in the know because i for one know that it's something on my mind and i'm sure on alot of peoples minds, especially considering this is touted as the Super Draft. Thus i ask does anyone actually no the exact rules( i know this has been discussed elsewhere but no conclusion has been met..i dont beleive.) regarding the new Priority Pick Rule. Is there any way in the world that we can get 1 and 2? If so is it essential for the future of THe Carlton Football club that we get these first 2 picks or risk another couple of years down the bottom.

Cheers
MB

Firstly:

Secondly:Priority pick rules tightened

Thirdly: If you still don't understand
16 points or under gets a team a priority pick between the first and second rounds.
16 points or under in successive seasons (not averaged out over those seasons) gets a team a priority pick before the first round.

Because we got 18 points last year, we cannot get picks 1 and 2.

The best (worst) we can do this season is to have 16 points or less, and receive the spoon, and picks 1, 17, and 18.

Dont worry spoon.. 1 / 17 / 18 isnt that bad either.

Spoon 1/17 is no way as good.

You take what you can get .. but you better make it count!!!
