So it is ok to switch rudeness on and off? I am just using what you wrote to substantiate or support the accusation.
I must of missed your post that said I am not going to be rude anymore. Do I have to go into another section to find this declaration?
I'll put mine here, I am not going to be rude anymore, the switch is off.

So if someone started going to church all of a sudden and spoke about God and Christianity a lot, would you assume he had converted to Christianity.... or do you need him to say to you "hey mate, I'm Christian now"

Thats a shame, woof....

If I could see and hear it then I would not expect him to say anything. But if he starts talking about the Devil a week later then I might say "hey mate I thought you were a Christian now".
I can't tell how long you or others will have the rudeness your switch is on or off.

Thats the kind of thing we should be deleting or warning about. If you can't substantiate a claim ABOUT ANOTHER POSTER, then it should be deleted and the person warned.

Hey Ty,
I've always been happy to see you back in here on one of your sabbaticals, but i must say this time around i've been questioning whether you have recently read the Dice Man. Your internet persona this time around does appear to be far more aggressive, condescending and intolerant than your previous ones.

This may be a contributing factor in why people aren't willing to enter into an 'intellegent' debate with you, and why you keep being distracted by shrapnel.

The AFL Commission tried to smash our club into oblivion on Black Friday with both their financial and draft penalties .They did it to get back at Black Jack and didnt want to understand what the long term ramifications of those penalties would be - we needed to be punished for salary cap cheating but they wanted to make us pay and wanted retribution
Anyone who doesnt think we have not been severely affected by those penalties really doesnt not understand the present gravity of the position both on and off the field
On field you cant seriously argue that with the inclusion of good young talent like goddard wells sylvia or Mclean we wouldnt be a more competitive unit
Each of them would have helped our on-ball rotation no end - would have offered supporters more hope and helped resurrect earlier the parlous state of our list
As for the crippling $1M fine it nearly caused the Carlton One team to close the doors and hand back the licence to the AFL
Build a bridge forget it !

then I suggest you read closer

show me a post where I've specifically been rude to someone, which actually named names

*scans memory for having done this.......*

I'd say I've been very good of late. I've been dismissive, but not rude. You have to be dismissive in debates because sometimes some paths are a waste of time.

Of course I'm passionate now because its an issue I care deeply about

Do you?

It happens I agree, but it isn't neccessary, its just a way of directing an argument along the path that you think gives you the best chance of explaining yourself.

Better by far to ignore what you feel is not relevant and tackle what you think is.

You named Longmuir's name ...and were rude

...Tyrant, its not an issue for me, i don't mind what you post - but to respond to the point above - without specifically naming names you have inferred that people are fools. Some people could consider this offensive, and from where I sit you have been more pious this time around ... that is not to say that you haven't been your entertaining self, just that i feel this more 'passionate' persona (as you may call it), may invite more kneejerk responses than you have seen in the past.

...oh, and our team is playing ordinary football and some of us can't help but vent...

If I was one of the inferred in the original complaint, I am most certainly offended, but it's not the only thing I would have been offended by from a certain collection of people of late.

What I do dislike is how you can be shot down by some regulars of this forum for disagreeing with them, for making a brief answer to assist in the flow of a discussion, or for unintentionally over-posting when you're bored at home and a keen supporter of our great club (or in the case of TalkingStuff/Fun, just plain bored). Some people can take some things too seriously, or the wrong way, or get annoyed because a person infringes on their pet hate (which they wouldn't even be aware of).

So what I try to do when I'm not sucked in (it happens... alot :() is try and understand where people are coming from when they take a crack at me.

I just hope people are extending me (and others) the same courtesy.

mate, I haven't inferred that certain people are fools.....

I IMPLIED it....

look, there is a big difference between implying someone is foolish for raising a foolish point... and actually insulting them... debates are often heated.... and this is what I referred to as "being dismissive"... which I accept I am at times... but valuable debates I certainly do engage in, even if I disagree... its people I get no value out of debating that I'm dismissive of.

Also.. the piety is a frustration thing..... call it arrogance if you like... but this site needs a rocket from somewhere
