The way Carlton is playing at the moment is making me sad. Since the Richmond game we haven't been able to lay one decent tackle and the players continue to be soft. To make matters worse we decided to come out after half time against Collingwood and not try, so what happens- the game is over 10 mins into the 3rd quarter after we led at half time. We may not have the best list of players in the league but you can still show some endeavour and put 4 quarters of pressure on the opposition and you never know- you might win the game! We did this against Melbourne but I haven't seen it since. I watch a tape of the 1995 Grand Final and I get angry when I compare the level of intensity that the current team is showing. Does anyone agree with this?

It's a very relevant point you raise Steve & welcome to TC. There's actually already a thread covering it in the Training Forum.

I can't see why we can't tackle. With people like DP, TE and TL we should be the best in the business. These guys fill me with so much confidence when they walk to the huddles 2-3min late each break!!

My concern is not just the tackling, but a general lack of intensity within the team. You can say we're a young side but so too were Essendon* in 1993. I'm not suggesting we're near winning a premiership but I always thought of the culture at Carlton as being one where the players did everything they could to win a game, that no matter what 22 ran out that they would have a go. The change in attitude was so obvious against Collingwood when you compare the 1st half to the 2nd half.

Players tired. Weren't rotated enough compared to Collingwood.
