Pretty amazing that the story was immediately followed up with the numbers to renew your membership. Sounds a bit like a scare campaign to appeal to the 7000 who haven't renewed.

however bad the situation is, a while back i came up with a thread about a Carlton FC support fund - where we all chip in as much as we want to an account that the mods create and we donate this money to the club. i think now would be a perect time to push for this....

the club needs all the help we can give

Considering we were just audited by PWC again we are in serious shite not fairly bad.

6000 members = $1.5mil approx.

Fairly Bad = Quiten Lynch marking.
Serious Shite = Adrain Deluca marking.

Its not scaring for the hell of scaring.

Noone stoops to thaat just to scare....

Were [REDACTED] for now.. we need someone to step in and take real control.

what was the point of smorgon stabbing collo in the back like Brutus just so he can go to the AFL for assistance???I spoke about this before... Smorgons only plan was to go to the AFL..`nothing more...

Why wasnt i president.. ?? i could have come up with that???

Top strategy....

Next is Mathieson's cash injection....
Smorgon will take credit for that too... even though Mathieson wanted collo to usher it in....

and the redevelopment... that will be another announcement..

But none of them are Smorgons initiatives....

Fancy getting rid of a president so you can be the one to go to the AFL for a handout... and saying" we made all those decisions as a board"

Fancy having a go at Caroline wilson too....

I'd support that - I will also buy my girlfriend (Dockers supporter) that Carlton membership she has always craved this week.

Also my aim for tommorow is to convert the two guys in my office who 'support' carlton into members. I am sure that everyone on this board knows a carlton supporter.....your task this week should be to convert them into members.

Shame them into it if you have to...

I think this development can be explained quite easily. The club were probably budgeting/hoping for the club to reach previous membership levels and benefit from the associated cash flow.

This hasn't transpired, along with poor corporate sale, and now we have a $1.5M hole and we now need to beg.

I know this isn't a time for told you so's and whatnot, but the doom both off-field and on-field especially is simply having a snowball effect throughout the club. We stick with this coach and continue with what we see on-field and we could replicate Fitzroy in its final year. And I am not being melodramatic!

This is a rut that going to extremely difficult to get out of unless we get some much needed change both on and off field

Smorgon has shown himself to be a complete fool. I thought we had got rid of the negativity with Collo. If we need funds it should have been handled queitly with the AFL - not blasted all over Australia. And where was the carrot - the hope - the positive - nothing - he is a complete fool and this is our biggest problem - bigger even that the $$$s. How did we end up with a President who is prepared to crap on our brand like this. How did the board ever vote for him over Lee for President!!!!

Looks like will get to see them play a bit more in the coming years

Western sydney Blues.

Who could not see this coming its been flashing like a beacon now for months and most of it is their own doing .

moving from Optus causing a massive write down on the assets

Poor results meaning not pulling in the revenue at The dome and The G

Paying players to play at other clubs because they didn't agree with the coach

Paying the coach between $600K to $850k a year

not appealing the fine and draft penalties ( that million dollar court case looks like chicken feed now)

Getting rid of players that have played over 100 games and were admired by most fans( internet fans excluded)

Is it any wonder that miserable prick pissed off back to the Dome

Tell Cammo to put away his petition and take a collection tin

Welcome to the Fitzroy / Carlton football club

The problem is our revenue stream is pathetic for a corporation as big as ours...
19 million is laughable...

Tere would be people reading this that turn over more.

There was a certain smell to all that...it reeked of classless desperation, and I've no doubt our once-proud club approached Nine to make that story happen. A rather poorly scripted, thinly disguised piece of propaganda sharing a wheelbarrow with a membership guilt trip and some scare tactics.

Putting the hand out for some help is one thing, to do it in that indignified fashion is a downright disgrace, and frankly, I'm insulted and acutely embarrassed. Oh my, look what we've become.

Like i keep saying iuts this continual eroding of what we had for 140 yrs....by people who have had it all given to them on a silver platter... for they not know what to do... they look this way.. they look that way.. but every way they look they look silly now...

Lets get some fresh people in... with fresh ideas.. who can expand our influence and introduce value to the club.

Smorgon is a clown....
