Well I bought a membership last night. I live interstate and make it to one game a season, but maybe it will help.

This may be simplistic, but it seems to me like the club is incapable of making and administering a simple budget. They are clearly budgeting using unrealistic membership figures for a start. They should be budgeting for 25,000 members (which is acheivable every year regardless of onfield performance), and constraining spending to meet that budget. Yes they should aim higher, but if they acheive it then the revenue from the membership above the 25k baseline should go straight into debt reduction.

Instead it looks like they are budgeting for 30,000+, spending based on that, and then acting suprised when the budget membership doesn't eventuate despite the club having acheived nothing on the field for 4 seasons now.

It just seems amateurish.

Is this $1.5 million cashflow shortfall before or after we pay Kouta $1.4 million for this season...??

Perhaps the time has come to beg a former Beatle to take care of us?? Has Ringo Starr ever watched a footy match?

Or Yoko Ono... we're walking on some pretty thin ice right now!

We could tell Bill Gates that the Carlton Football Club is actually a private medical research company, and we need a $7m grant to make a malaria vaccine.

What about if we buried Deluca alive a kilometre underground for a month? They're offering the miners $3m and they were only down there for two weeks!

I reckon they can't budget for 25,000 members, or it would be close the doors time.

25000 isnt enough...the Crows etc are setting the standards now and you really need 35000 to be competitive.....this is the problem.

If you're going to do that you'd better get him some mining gloves or else he wont be able to hang onto the drill on the way down.

Not a total surprise I alluded to this a couple of days ago:
http://www.talkingcarlton.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7159&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=165

Surely the board and Collo as president included have completely misread the market and the financial plan they have signed off on is cactus-the projections will not be achieved.

Whatever year we are in of this plan (was it year 2?) is hog wash, rip it up and its back to the drawing board.

I bet these wankers projected the same level of membership as last year (33,000 +) after we had endured a nightmare of a season and a wooden spoon.

Forget the coach, the players and ever other ingredient - until we get the OFF FIELD set up right we will NOT GO FORWARD!!!!

Legends stand=Elliot's Folly and an absolute millstone. Forget the reasons/blame, we need to forget any romantic notions and history. We need to cast off any liabilites that we have and then start working on the incomings. PP is not an asset at the moment, it is a liability.

Damn. That is absolute bull%#@!

Port should have got the first AFL licence in 1990. Then the crows wouldnt exist and another real club coouldhave entered later.

The crows are only more popular because they are a watered down state team.

I hate port but at least they are a real club.

If Graham Smorgan has mislead the members by overstating our financial problems he is a @#$%&! disgrace.

He and his management should look to other methods of raising revenue rather than using emotional blackmail. Low act if true.

Dont worry were working on improving... were going to improve the on field performances by cutting the money paid to even less than 92.5% .. we have everything under control...just wait n see...

Were in the industry of building dreams you morons!!... were not trying tomanufacture screws to sell to Bunnings.. if you cant give us a dream.. and we cant see a dream in this darkness.. what the @#$%&! do you expect???
Carlton is our escape from the normal ho hum things in life....we dont want to escape into stress!!!.. its our source of entertainment...something to follow.. our hobby...

But then thats what you get when you have a

President who is a bean counter and gets driven around town in a limo by a driver....

Give us a plan .. something concrete for us to grab onto .. not straws...!!!

Absolute fools!!!

How incompetant are these blokes??
No flower idea what industry theyre in....

i still cant believe Smorgon stuck it to Collo just so he can get the main job and come up with that rubbish...
