So where are they? Pratt, Smorgon?? They have pretty deep pockets so why aren't any of them putting their hands in and helping out the club? Years ago we had a Heroes campaign, then another, then another. Surely the club cannot expect the average supporter who may have donated already and has their membership paid up, to fork out any more hard earned.

Could you imagine Eddie letting the Pies get into this sort of mess? Methinks he would have quietly donated what was needed and got on with it..

It is a pity that the AFL snapped up Fitzpatritck. Supposedly he is very good with fiscal matters.

Your right chief, why are these Collins St gurus not putting the money on the table?

CFC allegedly has some very, very high profile, wealthy supporters and its time they all band together and put some $$$ into the club particularly the ex-footballers like fraser brown and fitzy who are both millionaires. give back to the club that gave them an opportunity. Pratt could make our problems go away in the time it takes to write cheque. The money could be loaned to the club at no interest. Surely he is not going to miss say a bequeath of 5 or 10 million out of a billion? Why should they support the club and throw good money after bad? Because they can!

I keep hoping that once it gets really serious the white Knights will arrive via one or a combination of these wealthy supporters. Is it time for our own 'save our skins' campaign?

Why would the top end of Collins street pump money into Carlton??
Were looking for scraps on the arse end of the Tasmanian miners benefit night on the Footy Show.

How [REDACTED] is it for a bloke like smorgon to have to face his shareholders and staff...today after what he did last night??
Isnt he embarassed???

What the @#$%&! is he thinking???

Im embarassed for him...

Anyway im taking a sign to our headquarers today.. it reads.. 'Collins street is 3 miles that way.. (with an arrow) because thats where the corporate world is ... not watching the Footy Show...looking for charity cases...

from what I can gather, there is significiant factional behaviour among the fat-cats...... some want to support, others won't because of the state of the club etc etc..

We just don't have a culture of unity, of singlemindedness... we have a culture of conflicting messages, of uncertainty, of unprofessionalism, and ultimately of fear..

Hardly inspiring stuff

Is that Collins street as in the CBD? or is that a reference to how far away Collo has run?

Why would you give money until the club has exercised all it's options?

princess mary is a carlton supporter - can't we get some funds from denmark - we should be in contact with the embassy and set up an exhibition match over there for her or something.

We just appear to sit on our hands and whinge about our problems, i wonder if we ever explore scenarios like this no matter how left field they are.

From memory we didn't even send over some baby carlton merchandise to her when she had the baby.

The image we are currently selling is poison to any self respecting brand.

Like supporters, any brand manager / marketing manager who's able to stump up six figures, will want to see some sort of a plan.

I expect what the club currently sells members is what they sell to corporates.

I applaud the Indesits of the world for being brave enough to put their name to the present Carlton brand but there's any number of reasons why there's not a queue.

Some have retired from public life, some dont want to contribute anymore for:

a) team selection
b) administration both past / current
c) other things of their plate

In the end its a moot issue. You cant rely on so called fat cats, all you can do is try to find our way out of the mire. We have to stop believing in fairy tales (ie De Luca becoming a player) and work harder at the things we can control, like:

a) take the money from the AFL
b) provide a strong direction going forward for us all to yearn for ie play the freaking top draft picks we all suffered to obtain
c) restore links to our great past

Just give up on the pipe dream and work on what you can control

ps for those who know me, Thomas James Molsey was born on May 9. 8 lbs 11, very healthy. Mrs.Molsey home tomorrow.

Thanks Deano.

Yes, he was signed up before Christmas as 'Baby Molsey'.

As for the Blueseum, I'm hoping there'll be some positive recent history to report by the time I get him working in my other 'home'!

What comes first the chicken or the egg?

On field success will bring money.

and/or

Off field success will eventually stabilise the playing group.

I dont know what they should do.

What they are doing right know is not working.

On and off the field

Just because they are wealthy, we shouldnt have to rely on them to bail the club out. What we should expect however is the fickle supporters who havent renewed their memberships from last year to re-join.

7000 still to sign up....thats $2 million...that would be a start.

Great work Mike....

Didn't got with Lucas in the end? Didn't want him to grow up Pro-Hartlett?
