With Carlton is such financial strife I am amazed that over 7000 members from last year have not renewed. That equates to around $2 million the club hasn't received this year.

There is absolutely nothing worse than a fickle supporter and to be honest, I thought our supporter base was more loyal than this.

Our beloved club needs us now more than any other time in it's history and to think that 7000 people have dropped off is appalling. I actually didn't think we had so many bandwagon jumpers.

It's time to give something back...now!

I remember it being said that the club had not offered installment plans for membership purchases this year and were thinking of reintroducing it should significant membership lapses occur.

Does anyone know if this has been implemented yet? I'm going to check now.

Just another form of 'voting with their feet' - similar to the petitioners but probably more damaging. The problem with this method (ie abstaining from paying memberships) though are many:

- the Club is in severe trouble; and
- you arent telling the club which issue(s) you most have problems with.

At least the petitioners are focussing on a specific issue and most, presumably, are still contributing to the Club in one way or another.

Its a very dangerous point for the Club, but hey, if we hadn't have lost by almost 100 in the pre-season and the CLub actually spent some money on calling the non-respondents in March then maybe we wouldn't be in this mess?

I for one aren't going to sing the petition, and will always be a member, and am not too disappointed with our defensive tactics as all we're really doing is copying other teams, but this consistent selection of polayers not going anywhere over our young players disgusts me. I was fuming this morning and if there was a way I could register this emotion - especially given our predicament - I would.

when the people in power start acting in the best interests of the club, then I'll support them

I'm definitely voting with my feet from now on

Nup, no installment plans.

I dare to suggest that not even Cammo would sing the petition, molsey. ;)

After seeing lastnight's begging session on the Footy Show, I decided I'd get myself a new blues jumper from the cfc shop as a way of giving a few dollars back. I left empty handed as I noticed the club has now raised the price of onfield jumpers to $180 for short sleaves and $200 for the long sleaved ones. At Collingwood you can get an authentic onfield jumper with a player number for $109.95. I hope the brains trust at Carlton didn't spend too long on that money raising initiative - get back to the drawing board fellas and think up a few more ways you can bend over supporters and sponsors.

and sadly this is where we come too.

just about everything i do or buy from the club feels like im getting swindled for me money  :-D (there ya go BV - abit more appropriate)

our social club is a joke, and unless something happens next year i, for the life of me, cant see any reason to be a social club member anymore.

the mcg social club is that bad, i prefer the TD one, and i HATE the telstra done one.

but let me get in before the others do.

ask not what the club can do for me, but what i can do for the club.

i pay $470 for a Social Club 17 Game Membership ($28.00 per game) and the social club facilities get worse and worse. Indeed, against Collingwood after going up to the social club in the Lindsay Hasset room to find out our seats are in the M1 - M4 bays on the lower deck, i walked out in disgust and almost threw my membership in the bin and that was before the 1/2 debacle

we are just [REDACTED] at the moment

membership is [REDACTED]
board is [REDACTED]
coach is [REDACTED]

the only thing that i get some enjoyment out of is seeing our kids run around .... oh wait ... thats not even happening either

I would imagine the vast majority of Talking Carlton people are members.

Dare we make select forums only accessible by obtaining a membership?

Could the club organise that?

Well you are a fool...you are just the type of supporter I was talking about. Well guess what, the club doesnt need you. If you honestly think the powers that be dont have the best interests of the club at heart then you are an even bigger fool! I bet you are the first to jump back on when things change.

It is obscene. I was in the Dockers store earlier this week and they sell short sleeve authentic reebok jumpers for $79.95.

What possible justifaction do we have for charging double that ? I'd think given our dwindling support base we would be trying to come up with ways to improve awareness of our brand rather then find ways to diminish it.

Unfortunately, no point talking what should happen, the reality is if we keep getting insipid, passionless efforts like we got last year it's natural people will drop off. Like it or not that's human nature. You always have a big core of members but like a politics you have people who will swing. People supported them for a few years in record numbers despite the performances but they were insipid for one year too many. Sure more would have stayed if the team was more committed as at least people would have been happy with the effort. You can only push people so far. Not saying I agree with it, just telling it like it is. Changes are needed from the top down.

Sitting in the "premium" section of the SC I can tell that a lot of the 6000 who dropped off seem to be SC and reserved seat members. Not that surprised because the value the high paying members got last year (as mentioned above) was absolutely crap.

So the drop off is not just lack of onfield performance - there are a lot of disgruntled premium members - because the way they were treated post move from PP. What hurts even more then the large number of drop offs is that these are the expensive memberships = large drop in revenue.

after smorgons little performance last night and today the club has lost another potential member , i am already an interstate member for which i get little for my money but anyway i do it because i love the club.

I was going to buy my wife a 'token' membership , she hates footy but i was going to do it anyway as a bit of a personal joke and to help the club.

But again after that pathetic display i dont want to give him the satisfaction of thinking he sucked me in like the other 100 people he alluded to today in his pathetic back peddling display.

i might buy myself some merchandise instead if i can be bothered.

Dont see this in anyway as turning my back on the club in a time of need as i have pumped endless amounts of money into the club for very little return in the past 5 years.

u make a good point mate, but i believe my membership is negotiable.Im sure all past players and avid supporters of this once famous, strong club who have passed on would be turnin in their graves.Yes the smorgans, koutas, elliots, doulls, kernahans etc come and go and the carlton footy club is always there. But if nothing is not seriously done, will it still be there??im sick n tired of the crapp this board tries to lay on its supporters.footy changes.we read this everyday with comments made in the media. The sad fact about this club is that the board think they can just make the same comment week in and week out.its up to the members.Well maybe show us members some new initiatives and change the record every week and i am sure the numbers will increase. And also maybe our grandparents and deceased members will stop turnin in their graves.

I did a quick Internet comparison of jumper prices.

I sampled the following clubs under the criteria of an authentic XL long sleeve jumper:

Melbourne, Collingwood, Port Adelaide , West Coast and Geelong.
The average price is $107.95.

Melbourne were the cheapest at $90 and Port the most expensive at $119.95.

We are getting bent over well and truelly as we are charging $200 !!!

Most perplexing is that Port's sponsor is Nike as well.....you'd think our price would approximate Ports ?

Does anyone know how long our agreement with Nike is for ?

I'd like to buy a new jumper but even if I could afford $200 I'd feel as though I'm being cheated. What possible justification do we have have in charging $200 ?
