Greeting Earthlings!

I have been looking forward to this one. In the draft period what have the player swapsies been like between Carlton and the Western Bulldogs?

Carlton to Western Bulldogs

1989 Pre-Season, pick 7, Mark Williams, 14 games
1992 Pre-Season, pick 20, Mark Majerczak, 0 games
1995 Trade, James Cook, Carlton got Ben Sexton, 49 games

One of our favourite players on our planet (of course) Mark Majerczak was given a go at the doggies but could not crack it for a game. The Bulldogs got a bit of value out of Cook.

Western Bulldogs to Carlton

1991 National, Pick 18 Matthew Hogg, 114 games
1995 Pre-Season, pick 36, Alan Thorpe, 0 games
1995 Trade, Ben Sexton, WB got James Cook, 4 games
2001 Rookie Elevated, Jim Plunkett, 37 games

Matthew Hogg the big pick up, heart as big as phar lap. Could be seen quite often down at crown casino at 3am on a roulette table betting on 33. Sexton was worth a punt and Plunket had some good moments early but faded away.

Are there any other swapsies people can remember from before the draft period and maybe also swapsies that had other clubs in between?

Peter Rohde ended up coaching the doggies (or trying to).

Does that count?

Bruce Ried Dogs to Carlton

Phil Maylin Carlton to Dogs
Robert Klomp Carlton to Dogs

I think Simon Minton-Connell had a season or two at the dogs (I could be wrong)

Also plenty of cars have been stolen in Carlton and ended up in Footscray

I'm pretty sure Ben Harrison was swapped to Richmond for Justin Murphy originally, just after Ben won the Carlton Reserves B&F. Not sure who won after that swap :?

Many of us on Majerczak-Verbeek-5 have been known for laziness.

Consequently, consider this thread well and truly bumped.

Denis Collins, pacy bearded wingman who played around 30 games for us in Seasons 1978 and 1979. Known for kicking massive torpedo punts on the run and famous for that footage that Channel 7 always dredge up for their "Biffos, Bumps and Brawlers" Specials where Robert "Mad Dog" Muir takes the biggest swing (and misses him) and Denis falls to the ground like a bag of wet cement.

Mark Naley was drafted by the Dogs after he left Carlton and went back to SA. Didn't come back over though. Was around 1990 from memory.

It was 7... A mate thought Fev was going to become the next Thorpey after the Millenium game...

Went to Hawthorn after the swans. From there he and his cousin - Paul Hudson - went to the dogs.

Ken Greenwood.

I have a vague memory that three-time premiership player Neil Chandler went to Footscray, but I could be wrong.
