Dont get me wrong here, Id really really prefer that we do the rebuilding and win the flag thing outside of a time where people having the threat of nukes being dropped on their cities, but I cant see it being a lot different because of the descisions that we are making right now.

The future isnt fixed you know, it is a very fluid kind of thing, Im a believer in the parallel universe view of the world...

But because people dont change their ways very much and have many behaviours that lock them into courses that ultimately end in conflict, it makes it easier for people like me to be confident in asserting my thoughts on this, so I would actually like it if my job was harder..

A lot of the parallel universes out there have storylines with bad things happening because of this.

Sadly, only a few run the line of global cooperation and resulting peace and harmony.

On the Pratt discussion :

It would seem to me that the crisis that causes a lot of change in a short time that I have described here could quite concievably be the Pratt $ thing that is being talked about in this thread. - not a bad jigsaw piece here....

I have the great pleasure of working for the Pratts. I have also had the pleasure of knowing the Pratt family for a long time.

Tough, loyal, passionate, and extermely proud. Do you want htese qulaities in your football club? YES i do.

For what it is worth to previous Bios presented here lets not forget another very relevant fact. That Dick Pratt has played for and represented the CFC. In fact the man won the old Under 19 Morrish Medal playing for his beloved blues.

He is no fat cat. This man gets behind what he belives in. Will there be strings attached? irrelevant comment....there is little in life that doesn't. We all have an agenda - particular when they are your own resources.

Lets hope it is true.

I would say it would be more than likely that the main agenda or requirement that that Mr Pratt would have would be that :

Carlton returns to being a successful club.

We manage our future affairs to prevent us ever stuffing up like
this again....

It wouldnt be all that complicated...

Why would anyone not want that????

You are all rumour mongering-
I have seen the Smorgon and Pratt families at certain functions and they have seemed to get along just fine-
I asked someone in the know about htis earlier today and he claimed there had been some tension in the past (something about proceeds to a Jewish charity) but the families have managed to put it all behind them.

Anyways thats not all fully important right now-- will be very interesting to see what comes of all of this. What I will say is that if someone is prepared to kick in $7 million of his hard earned into a footy club, then you better believe hes going to want something out of it... any why the hell shouldnt he?

I once saw Smorgon in the same suburb as Pratt.

Josh you obviously dont understand the history of the two families... just dont continue

Some posters seem concerned about conditions - what sort of conditions are you fearing? Pratt is a lifelong Carlton fan and won't be closing anything down you know - its more the careers / tenures of certain Directors who appear lifeless or helpless in terms of actually restoring the Club that would and should be in the firing line. Its not like we lose them as Carlton members, either, unless someone wants to pull a sooky like Bartlett etc.

What if there were certain players he wanted out / wanted in - that sort of thing happens at the end of every season anyway. And as continual cellar dwellars we should be doing a hell of a lot more of that than we have for the past 2 years.

The chance to wipe off the final legacy of Elliott's reign is one that we should take. The chance to swipe good players in the PSD as we have cap available and have the ability to do it, should be pursued. The chance to have an even playing field so horribly robbed from us should be one we embrace wholeheartedly.

If there is a skerrick of truth to this then it should be pursued.

If Smorgan is holding on and fighting against it, you should ask the question why he didnt put up the cash instead.

I'm in.

I'd be more fearful if there weren't conditions.

Even if the board resign, don;t they have evry right to re-nominate for the board. If they think they are the best people for the job, there's no problem

Nothing new, "we are moving forward", financial issues were know - nothing new, TFS reported wrongly, never said this paying below 92.5%, porbably have to ask for money from AFL, have a short list of new board member(s) etc. Nothing interesting.

Oh, yes one thing: No get out clause in Denis' contract.
