The AFL should make up for it by organising us an annual Fathers Day match

Actually it is an interesting point, surely if all Carlton members went then there would be no gate receipts to speak of as there is no paying crowd. It would of course be much better if it were only Essendon* supporters at the game and non-Carlton members (Carlton "supporters").

Since I live in Denmark I couldn't quite make the game but I did get my daughter up at 6.00am to listen to it on the net.

Mandy, ANZAC day vs Mothers days. Just a slight difference.

Mums stay in bed

Just 20,233 were at AAMI Stadium to see the Bulldogs thrash Port Adelaide, and a mere 32,976 watched Essendon* and Carlton at the MCG.

In the end, 33,000 wasn't a bad result for the day.

You can keep that pie, I'd prefer a slice of Good Friday hot cross bun myself.

We need to get away from playing in Victoria on mothers day. The board should lobby the AFL (????) to play an interstate game on this day.

In regards to the numbers i thought we'd get 40,000 only so way short. But what do you expect to - shitful bottom of the ladder sides playing on a miserable day!

By the way I went to the game.

Hey I like that idea Ryan, Father's day being in September and all.

Blues2005, I really don't think TC is the ideal place to be telling Carlton supporters off for drops in attendance. TC would have to represent the more passionate of the Blues community who do buy memberships & turn up to watch us play, even when we're crap.

I agree that Mother's Day is a stupid idea for normally big drawing games. IIRC we played Geel at the G when we were firing in 2001 & got 30000. Yesterday was just a waste of an Ess/Carl game crowd wise.

A far better idea would be to give the day to Melb, who seem to have embraced the women's round concept, have them play Freo or Port & start the match at 3.

I would have my left knacker extracted if I left my wife at home with 3 little ones on Mothers Day. Shocking scheduling - Mothers Day should be reserved for when we play Freo or Port.

good win but.

Easy for you to say.

Mothers day the killer... should be moved to January 38th.
