I assume you mean Sticks inspiring, not Fev...I think you just had Fevvy on your mind when you typed.

I think it was your "I still love the Navy Blue" thread which did it!

Take this one as your win, bnz!

I heard it, and Fev mentioned that Sticks had a chat with the entire playing group during the week.

Mentioned that Sticks got emotional and described to the players what the club meant to him and his love for the club. Asked for the players to give it to Essendon* this week, no matter the sacrifice, after all the club has been through for the past few years. Fev reckons the players were in awe and really got the message, hence the result today.

Malouf also spoke to the playing group describing the tradition and history of the Carlton Football Club.

That's all I got from it.

Fev claims it had a real impact on the playing group and they mentioned it at every change.

Players mobbed him in the rooms afterwards.

Ahh, Sticks, ya gotta love the man :-D :-D

This sort of thing is well overdue.

Sticks is a huge resource that we haven't tapped effectively IMO.

I love Sticks!

I thought from the title of this thread perhaps the coaching panel had threatened whack the players with big sticks if they didn't win.

I guess having to listen to Kernahan's voice is slightly less of a breach of OH&S laws.

Same article, Fev's quote:

Quote:
Sticks came in and had a massive chat with us and he loves the footy club. I don't think anyone loves it more than Sticks

absolute champion/legend, if anyone here questions his motivation and reasons for being involved with Carlton they should follow Collingwont instead. He has copped a fair bit over the last few years and has nothing to gain personally by sticking by us.
Compare his efforts to someone like Silvagni who was a part time board member and then pissed off and we can see who is Carlton through and through despite parentage.

So lets have 45 ex Carlton legends on the board and in the rooms every week. As for attacking Silvagni aren't his deeds on the football field enough for you?
I just can't understand some people.

I didn't know the new rule about not having former players involved with football clubs woof, just because you are a former player doesn't been you can't make a positive contribution to the club.
Of course I loved SOS's contributions on the field, it was his off field efforts that concern me - paper bag anyone$

You don't want too many former players getting involved...too invasive.
I do however think sticks should take on more of a mentoring role with this playing group at the moment until the younger leaders have a bit more presence amongst the playing group.

Never underestimate the positive impact made by those who have been here and done it before for our great club, to ensure Carlton is a better place to be.

In addition to Sticks' moving input during the week, we also had Sheldon, Buckley...even Syd Jackson, George Harris and a few oldies come to the club in support during the week and on game day.

It's important for the club to embrace all our greats, and provide a welcoming and appreciative environment for them to come home to. All of them. They are our history and an integral comnponent of our culture.

Lets all get behind the revival, and lets make our voice a positive one in good faith. Make every whisper, every shout about our beloved Carlton count, and Carlton will once again be a team footballers on the outside will desire to belong to.

May the force be with you.

Go Blues.
