Positives - The Win ... more a relief than anything and at leadt made me in a good mood for next week.

A win against the back drop of all the doom and gloom off-field which can quite easily cause a poor showing or a good showing .. thankful was the latter.

Pressure on DP possibly got a more attacking less flooding game whch meant we where more agressive and attacked the ball more.

The win against the Bombers regardless of how poor teams are travelling puts more pressure on the Bombers instead of the Blues for once.

Great to see Confidence improve especially in the Younger Brigade.. Still have issues as was stated on chipping around but i think this is more from Confidence than playing a game plan.. Not wanting to losse possesion of the Ball. If we can get some wins in a row ... and this is more hope than anything but if some confidence comes in then we will take more risks and be more attacking.

Young Guns .. Kennedy / Murphy continuing to show ... Great to see Kennedy get some game time.

Of course Whits / FEv / Thornton / Stevo

Another thing i noticed KOuta and lappin where more benched than our kids .. meading finally the Kids are getting a chance

Positives---Essendon losing Fletcher, and McVeigh before the game and Hird in the first quarter....helped our chances no end.

All the young guns, Simmo, Murf, Kennedy, Walker, Bentick ect, but what the realy put the icing on the cake for me was when Fev was interviewed after the game on aw, and he mentioned how he sent a text to Kennedy during the week to encourage him.

Fev showing some leadership!!!!!! :-D :-D :-D

Extremely happy with our young guns! Murph Walker ooozzzee class,
Im hoping for a couple of early drafts and another KPP player next year and then we will truly be on our way into a very competetive team.
Also liked the fact that we had the middle tier players like Simpson,Thornton,Bentick, mclaren,Wiggins play well.
Also a postive that Heath Scottland is in very good form lately.

Kennedy is a monster and definately looks like the Rocca type that we have been screaming out since stix and Earl retired. By next year he should pput atleast anotehr 6 Kilos on.IM EXCITED!

All I want this year is Hartlett , Bower, Russell and Blackwell get a run at the same time and then BANG!

Agree on our tackling. It was fantastic to see some gang tackling and a little bit of agro.

Kouta looked angry today.

McLaren was great. Saw him on his knees at a few centre bounces tackling midfielders.

Thornton and Whitnall were rocks in defence.

Murphy, Kennedy, Walker, Simpson were solid.

Whether it was Essendons midfielders not running forward or our midfield being a little more accountable we certainly looked a little tighter.

The win
Knowing there is a team worse off than us. It just goes to show what happens when you lose good players like Lloyd,Hird and Fletcher before the game teams get exposed. Our best defender Whitnall can then go on Lucas which then opens the door for Thornton to play well, it has a domino effect. Good to see signs of encouragement between team mates, moral was up as well, with the 1% being commited for each other.
Our youngsters shinning through with more game time, with support from our experienced players. Kennedy has great hands and positioning in situations but has a lot of time to improve his Kernahan flops(kicks) at goal. Good team effort. It seemed DP did not use the flood as severly today because we could out play the opposition and not get blown away.
Inspired Carlton victory where there has been doom and gloom from all reports, well done blues. Put that smile upon our supporters :-D

Been a critic of our tackling in recent times but I thought they were excellent on Sunday in this regard, right from the opening.

Well done Carlton.

I really liked that team goal of Bentick's in the last that we just worked & worked for after Fev soccered it fwd.
Loved Betts' pace, shame he got caught on that run near the end.
You feel pretty sure we will clear the ball when it goes down to Whitts at CHB now.

Waite...held some marks
Mclaren...nice tap outs and good work around the ground.
Walker..consistent game
Kennedy..presents well for the footy, tackles well for a big bloke and I think the 1%per centers are a good part of his game....I think he is smarter than Earl Spalding and will give a nice option to Fev and the others...round of applause for Wayne Hughes for making the right choice.....

Bentick...needed a good game and gave us one.....needs to be consistent though like the other class in and unders.....

Fevola...did the job although Sheedy helped him out by playing a kid on him....

Nick Stevens...and Scotland..both won and used the ball welll...

It's always much easier finding good players after a win.

Fev, Whitnall, Thornton and McLaren were all excellent.

Scotland, Bentick, Betts and Fisher (until injured) were very good.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Kennedy goes on a dry day, but he looks very impressive. Probably Fisher's injury should allow him to get more ground time.

Now if only we can get Bower into the team ...

We won and Kennedy was good.I dont want to be a killjoy but we had to win this one because Essendon* had all their stars out and Sheedy didnt want to win the game.Explain the reason why you would keep a kid on Fevola all day when McPhee was ready and keen.Fevola wouldnt of kicked 7 with Fletcher in the team.

The first 3 quarters was the worst football I have seen with both sides butchering the ball.We made heaps of mistakes and its great to win but many have taken the win out of context. We were shit for the first 3 quarters against a sub standard undermanned team who had their 3 most important players out and lead by a coach who thought it was more important to give a kid experience than win the game.Im talking about Joel Reynolds.

If we play up to that standard we will get beaten by the saints because they have a good engine room.

Saddington was ordinary.Redeemed himself with the long bomb goal in the second but squibbed it early in the first to allow Mark Johnson to mark .That was terrible.Thank god we have Thornton and Whitnall down back.Saddington is ordinary when its a one on one situation. We are lucky that Hamill isnt playing.Thornton was terrific. Best game for a long time.

Look its great to win but I could see the same problems out there. No McVeigh,Hird,Lloyd,Fletcher,Rioli we just had to win with a full strength team in.The dons are crap in the ruck and didnt expose us there.Deluca was ordinary .Has no idea at the centre bounces.Jumps too early.McLaren will get monstered by a quality bigman.

And the guys who have been inconsistent for us get another game and hold the young kids back.We have a chance against the Saints but if we play to that standard on Sunday we will get beaten and I would still make some changes for next week.

Fair points and I agree about the poor opposition and the issue of Saddington not contesting and allowing Johnson to mark....
re: Mclaren..I think he is out best bet in the ruck at the moment....his ruckwork is very good and he does actually palm the ball rather than hit it anywhere and even at 196cm I would be prepared to leave him as No 1 ruckman...agree that vs Cox, Everitt etc he will have his problems but I dont see French doing any better....while French may compete better in the hitouts he would be slaughtered by a player like Cox around the ground and what negating role he woiuld provide at ruck contests would be outweighed by his lack of performance around the ground...
I'm really keen to see Batson and Aisake peform at senior level and see if they have any future as specialist ruckman....I think French is a caretaker ruckman at best, Deluca will never be a genuine No 1 ruckman and Bryan remains a mystery....

I have always hated Wiggins.
However
He showed that he needs a roll to play and was a real asset on the weekend.
Wiggins could be an unheralded tagger!
Lets see if he can shutdown a few dangerous players this year.
