I flew over to Melb to be greeted by a cold Sunday afternoon ad little hope of a win and I was very pleasantly suprised!

The carlton kids were fantastic.

Sticks must run for PM after revving up the baby blues that well.

A run down.

betts

Quick, very smart and always dangerous.
He looked very comfortable running through the middle.
By the third quater he was being tagged.

Fisher

Sad to see him injured, but before he got injured he was taking contested marks all over the ground.
I reckon fish should have a forward flank named after him. He is going to be a superstar if he can put on 5 more kilo and take the heavy treatment in the future.

Murphy

All class, looked better each quarter. Has a bloody good footy brain. He worked with Bentick and Stevens very well in the middle. Could win a couple of B&F's before in his career.

Bentick

Has the grunt in the middle that we have been crying out for since Ratten retired. I havent seen a bluebagger with that much ticker since the turn of the millenium. Again needs to put on a bit of weight to take week in week out punishment.

Waite

Gets better every week. Presented perfectly. With Kennedy and fisher around him I reckon Waite is CHF we have needed so badly. He is starting to blosom.

Thornton

At last! He didnt blaze away, in fact he even looked cool under pressure. It made all the difference to have 2 class defenders yesterday. Lance could back himself because he had confidence in the T bird.
Thornton even looked a little like Sexton ...spooky.

Best of all

Kennedy

the most exciting thing I have ssen for a long time. He had fantastic hands, presented with a lateral mind like Lance and ran like a Locomotive through numerous sore Essendon* players. When he lined up he was a little shaky but I am sure that in the Future he will become more comforatble.

It is time to sow a number 5 on the duffle coat!
Sticks would have been squirming with delight!

Go you good thing.

Passengers.

Not many at all.
Wiggins still has not got the goods.
Deluca...enough said

Forwardline of the future

FF Betts Fevola Mclaren

HF Kennedy Waite Fisher

Followers: French, Bentick, Murphy

Go you blue boys!

still not convinced about Waite at the moment, I fear that he is going to be one of these players who will turn 26-27 and still be talked about as having potential. If I hear Robert Walls talk about him being a star in the making one more time I might have to listen to 774

Waite has not been as good as all the talk.

HOWEVER

He was at his best yesterday.

maybe with kennedy and Fisher supporting him, the oppositions defence will spend less energy on him.

The forward line looks pretty smart to me

If he develops as expected Kennedy will be our CHF (still some time away though).

That means we may have a mature Waite available as a flanker in a future forward line. It could be the makings of an awesome forward line.

You are right.

kennedy played like a hgard leading CHF yeterday.

Waite will have to play CHF unitl Kennedy is ready.

I hope that the Fish can bouce back.

With him in the forward line there will be a lot of options.

Waite needs to pull his head in, cool it with the aerial posing, and concentrate on the fundamentals like kicking goals from 25m that my four year old niece could slot.

Why is he always playing from behind and coming over the top in these mark of the week attempts? Why is he never presenting and leading his man to the ball?

He is turning into a show pony and I f@#king hate show ponies. :?

He was more than servicable yesterday.

Mate it might be harsh but it's also true. Waite is in his 5th season at the club and that only thing he can do consistantly is snap goals around the corner from the left forward pocket (which I'm willing to concede he does very well).

You may think "serviceable" is ok, but I think his development has stalled, and it's looking increasingly like he'll never be sort of consistent dominant player that many of us hoped he would be. Instead he wants to be a poor mans Russell Robertson.

I would drop him back to the reserves until he goes back to basics and gets rid of that ridiculous little flourish he has started doing this season ever time he goes for a mark. Most players grow out of that sort of nonsense. Waite is growing into it, which is really disappointing. I know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Not sure if it's much a recommendation, but Gary Lyon was giving Kennedy a big wrap on the TV yesterday. Something alone the lines of "centre half forward for the next 10 years"

I thought Wiggins was great yesterday. Kicking was good, a couple of great long passes to Fev, his pressure in the forward 50 was bloody sensational. Not everyone needs to get 30 touches.

Not so sure he'll be in our 2008 premiership team but i think he has a bit to offer - solid body, good tackler, intensity, pressure, improved kicking. Mongrel.

I thought Wiggins looked the most composed he ever has. Could be the beginning of something ...

Tend to agree. I know it's always easier in hindsight, but his mark in the last Q early, he was more concerned about holding the ball up for all to see rather than dishing off to AB to run in to the open goal. Instead he slams it into the post. I know Lance woulda dished off.

He could have at least acknowledged ABs lead  .

Yep I agree the Wiggler looked more composed than ever yesterday.
That's been his biggest hurdle....composure & surity.
Those little toe-poke passes of his still worry me a touch though.

Waite will always be inconsistant that is the sort of player he is. He is like a commercial break between a movie on t.v. 'showtime' but he is still an itegral part of the team.
GO BLUES!
