Anyway a good businessman would wait for the AFL to hand over $1mil and take over maintenace costs at MC labour Park first before committing to a rescue.

Bingo.

It's a balancing act.
If you were interested in having a financial involvement, you'd want the AFL deal completed first.
The concerning aspect is that Smorgon and co. may take the CBF payout in addition to the redevelopment deal.

Hopefully the current board see the CBF as a last resort instead of a method of pacifying the members.

Yep - the denial means nothing one way or the other. Just because Pratt says it's not happening doesn't mean it isn't.

There are very good sources behind this story and whilst it might take a while to eventuate I no longer doubt it.

What was Pratt likely to say when asked?

"Oh, you've got me - it's not all sorted yet but I'm happy to spill the beans now simply because some hack AAP journo's asked me".

This may take some time.

Damn you BT - this was not supposed to have come out, YET!!! :x

Was this just a throwaway line - or do you have some genuine whispers?

This really got my hopes up over the weekend, and it's a shame it seems to have been nipped in the bud by monday.

Know anything?

Who writes this stuff you quoted Agro? Have the AFL taken two premierships off us as well:

The plight of the two Victorian former powerhouses - with Essendon*'s 16 VFL/AFL premierships the most of any club and Carlton's 14 equal second - shows how quickly the competition has changed in recent years.
