It would depend on who is shooting for goal, the inaccurate ones may not be too successful in a breeding program

Just on Geelong.. they get another gun kid father son in this years draft... Should easily have fallen in the top 20 ... maybe top dozen.
Jumping Jack HAwkins son..

197 cms and been blitzing for Melbourne Grammer since he was 15 ..

To go with the other first rounder they will get and a second rounder...

apparently there's so much talent in next years draft pool that the East Coast Eagles might pick up a player or two Sydney blue

P.S How is the local league going. I miss the hour on Fox Footy on Fri nights before FNF.

They used to be called Baulkham Hills when I used to play for them things have changed now I dont even know where they play any more. The juniors still have the most teams in Australia and the local schools out this way dominate the Paul Kelly cup.

When I moved from Parramatta to play with Baulko we used to train at out Kellyville Postal instiitutes ground which was then made part of the golf course and now has houses built on part of it. Three games every Sat Under 21 / Res and the Senoirs because we were always short of players.

Its changed a lot now - like they actually do train back in those days training was conducted around the pool table and the pokies with a few beers in your hand and if you missed training you would miss being selected for the Senoirs

...molsey puts up hand....

As with any commodity, and thats ultimately what a footy player is, theres a price that you'd just have to accept if it was offered.

But with our entire senior grouping well & truly on the slide with Kouta, Lappin and French noticeably falling away (to this point in the year), the next grouping of Whitnall and Stevens are the next grouping that we would look to rely on. the fact that Whitnall is the standout for form of these 2 suggests to tme that we need Whitnall a lot more than we have in the past.

yes, this could be an out of character 7 weeks but at this stage he's a cornerstone of the team, performing well, and set to win the B&F.

I don't think we should trade Lance.

molesy a clever man would wait till the end of the season and see what Lance has done over the SEASOn.. and then he would see what is offered..

Would you not trade Lance under any circumstances?

Were too knee jerk desperate at this club these days...

Looking for straws to clutch...

But everyone is allowed to have an opinion..

Agree with the top bit, and yes the first bit of my last post was trying to say 'everything has a price' so of course there are circumstances where anyone and everyone can be traded. There's about 10 on the list I'd currently trade for a bald turkey wearing a g-string. At least we can laugh at the turkey.

Trading whitnall...you all must be crazy...this guy loves the navy blue...the young players look up to him...he has had a bad run with injuries over last few years and he isnt like certain other players who hold the club for ransom...this guy will be our next captain...so instead of everybody being so bloody negative for a change lets be postive about some good things that are happening around our club...

wasnt is whitnall that was instructing the players to go to the fans after the Essendon* game...remember is start from the top and it works its self down...leadership and steadying of the ship so we can move forward...whitnall is providing that...

So get real and start being postive........

Yes Azza, they are crazy. While I agree that no-one is un-tradeable, you would have to be an idiot to trade a 5 year leader at a club already chocablock with youth.

Even the Hawks have more elders than us and they are supposed to be the benchmark for trading oldies for youngies. It would set us back 5 years.

We're going to lose Kouta next year and maybe French in 2 years - you simply can't replace them overnight.

Barrass the local league is up shit creek without a paddle. Dont believe the AFLs rubbish about the great job their doing.

SB Baulko have recruited well and are run extremely well but are the nomads of the league at present with no home ground. There is currently a new ground being built at Kellyville though. What years did you play with Parra?

I reckon you are way too keen to sell, sell, sell.
There isnt anything gained in selling assets if they are performing.
What do you want to do...
sell a tried and true player, who fits into the game plan for an untried kid.
If you were talking about someone like Livingston I would agree, however Whitnall is an asset to the club. He performs on a regular basis, is a franchise player for marketing purposes, leads the pups week in week out.
AND is not that old.

No need to sell Whitnall. Sell someone more disposable.

Yes they do. Remember Mansfield, McGuane, O'Reilly, McKernan. We can do that again. Look how far that got us. Let's take Solomon, Pickett & Zantuck.

If we were offered a top ten pick I would trade him....when we play finals for real and not just making up the numbers you will find Lance will be at the end of his career and wont be a factor if he is playing at all....a Lachlen Hansen for example would be starting to impact and give us more.

Its about winning premeirships for me and laying the building blocks..if we were a couple of years only away from winning a flag then I wouldnt trade him but were not and you need to plan for the future.
He is decent currency at the moment and some of the wannabe finals contenders may see him as the missing component and trade a decent pick...if you are going to gamble then at least gamble when the odds are with you and this draft appears to be the strongest since the Judd/Hodge/Ball draft and we need to be major players and get some A grade ten year talent....I would gamble that either Gibbs, Sellar, Hansen etc would give us more value down the track when it counts....not look short term and be happy with mid range finishes at best...
