What the @#$%&! does this mean. What else would you use a 50000 seat stadium in Melbourne for? NRL

*edit*
Forget that. They're talking about redeveloping the real estate ala Waverly

I'd be buying land wherever the Ron Evans & Andrew Demetrispew Family Trusts are buying land at the moment.

Who cares about the playing surface really. Thats for the players to worry about. TD is a great venue for the spectator. Good views all round the ground and good amenities. No worries about the weather. Good access by car an trains. Its a great stadium

Sorry for going off topic...

I still don't get the vibe for TD - where do you park to get there or is it better to go by train?

(Still a MCG boy...!!)

Marciblue, I agree the penalties were over the top. My comment earlier was in response to somebody else's comment regarding our poor recruiting/trading prior to being busted by the AFL for salary cap rorting.

From what was said on Ch. 10 it sounded as if they believed that the AFL would bail us out and take control of MC Labour Park...Hope this is true!

So my dream was like this:

- AFL take over lease and maintenance of MC Hammer Oval and pay us $6mil in advance plus $1.8 ground upkeep.
- Grollo, Smorgo and Pratt all tip in 1mil each to renovate and develop state of the art facilities and a new social club.
- Carlton finish 2006 second last on the table with 6 wins and pick Lachlan Hansen with our first pick.
- Murphy wins Rising Star award.
- Pagan rediscovers himself and decides to retire to the Gold Coast with Sheeds before they both get asked to coach the new Northern Kangaroos.
- Elshaugh is sacked and replaced with an assistant who is new age.
- Sticks becomes the new fulltime motivational speaker before and during games.
- Ahmed Fahour decides he wants to be president and is duly elected, but also brings to the table a new CEO to replace the retired Malouf.

"The Spews" show of concern over our plight is about on a par that a nurse in a hospice has over a dying patient.

Keep pumping the "morphine" in you swine the patient dies without feeling a thing.

Whats going on??

The board will decide Tues whether to apply for CBF. What have they been doing up till now. Why couldnt they decide before opening the books to the AFL.
'
Dementedhead says the Blues havent asked the AFL to buy the lease of MCL Park or to take over the running costs yet and he said a lot more work has to be done before that can be decided.

That isnt good enough. They are just delaying for no reason except that it puts the club abd supporteers in limbo and allows bad press gfor the next few months

I reckon Demetriou enjoys seeing us writhe.
Did you see the smirk on F#@$@ing Ron Evans.
GRRRRRRR!

The biggest positive out of a Pratt rescue would be that we sorted our issues out without the AFL assistance.

The board must act. But Smorgon seems a little gormless.

I don't believe what any of the shifty bastards are publicly saying!
What goes on in the public spotlight and what goes on behind closed doors are two different things.
I've got a gut feeling however that we'll be "rescued" one way or the other pretty soon.

What does Essendon*'s Peter Jackson think of our request? 8)

Blues' call affects us all.

Quote:
"There is no argument, as far as I am aware, that Melbourne, North Melbourne and the Bulldogs shouldn't get that for genuine demographic disadvantage. Carlton, on the other hand, have traditionally been a strong club and they are in the current position they are because of decisions they took over a long period of time as a club. They therefore don't qualify for financial assistance in the form those other three clubs do. And you have to be careful not to set a precedent for financial assistance based on bad management decisions."

Can't argue with that.

Great line, the Kangaroos, Melbourne and Bulldogs have been so well managed  .
I think its just showing his clubs tiny balls after Wato called them gutless.
I notice now they are also all anti-away strip again.
what I love is articles suggesting them haven't had any draft picks that's why they are now shit, we'll spare me a dime brother......
Bradley, Ryder, Monfires for all their "success" aint bad, finish last and then lose the PP and first two rounds for two years and one million dollars and get back to me.

Agreed. And if you take that in context of everything else he said about not letting a club with Carlton's history and heritage die then it's actually quite positive.

That's exactly the case, budzy. The decision from the commission has been made - after all, the KPMG report was handed to them a few weeks ago - and the meeting yesterday was to discuss the way forward and our 'other' requests, read PP.

The spin doctors came in and gave GS and Demetrispew a crash course in ABC. The rest is propoganda so other AFL clubs can see the decision is being though over!!
