When he was at Freo Longmuir frustrated the hell out of the Dockers fans. He'd dominate at WAFL level and kick a bag of goals, and then come into the Freo side and struggle.

The wisdom over here was that he was a one trick pony, and that trick didn't work at AFL level. That's why they were happy to cut him loose.

He deserves a go sooner or later. The guy has consistently been in the best all season and keeps getting praise. You have to reward the bloke eventually!

We gave up pick 73 for Troy (which turned out to be pick 69er come draft time) and Fremantle used that for Daniel Haines. There were 3 picks utilised after that, 2 by Carlton.
Pick 73 - Chris Bryan
Pick 74 - Daniel Pratt
Pick 77 - Anthony Raso

So really we gave up bugger all for him. He had a delayed start to pre-season for 2005 with OP, then had a long-term hammy injury when he got going and set him back further. Therefore, was behind the 8-ball all of 2005. Pre-season for 2006 was much better and he has been in very good form for the Ants playing midfield/forward. He would be a best fit replacement for Fisher.

I cant wait to see Blackwell debut but he had an indifferent game against the Scorpions and probably needs to put in another solid performance before debuting. I am really opposed to not rewarding good, constant performances by Carlton players in the VFL when the chance arises.

Pie night sounded good though Dannyboy

There are as many people that are even more frustrated with Medhurst and believe that Longmuir was never given an 'equal' chance and rarely given adequate game time.

I too am curious as to why we drafted a player who was in need of an operation during that preseaon and we knew wouldn't figure in last years plans, and then not consider him for selection in the year when he is fit and reportedly playing good football in the 'ants.

Unless we're desimated by injuries I can't see Longmuir getting a gig in Carltons forward line. Pagan seemingly has too many other options he'd prefer.

From reading Bullant game reviews it seems Blackers is finding plenty of the ball but not finding enough targets. I'd like to see him given senior game time but I'll be expecting quite a few turnovers to go with it. Give the kids some valuable game time while we're struggling ladderwise.

I'm confused.
If Longmuir is playing well enough to warrant a senior call up {according to some posters}, but we won't select him. Why did we draft him and not try our luck on a kid in last years draft?
I haven't seen any Ants games, so I cannot comment on his form.
Regards Pedro..

EXCELLENT QUESTION

Short Answer: Because the club [REDACTED] up in drafting him

Things about Longmuir:
1) not a good player
2) should never have been traded for in 2004
3) should never have retained him on the list for 2006
