At this stage -

His priority is the NAB at present.

Doesn't mean ruling it out of the future.

Would be nice for Richard Pratt too openly state if he has any position. Particularly after the speculation earlier last week. Too see his face on tv would be great.

I do appreciate that he does not have too as well. And he reportedly has denied the rumour.

There was a Carlton corporate breakfast this mourning and they had Ahmed Fahour as a guest speaker.

As said by Budzy, Ahmed clearly stated he didn’t want the presidency because he is too busy for it.

I attended the Leaders Breakfast this morning where Fahour was guest speaker.
Fahour is a real leader and a impressive speaker. Spoke at length about his love for the Blues. Fahour is a really passionate Blues Supporter, this was evident during his speech.
He spoke about the turnaround in performance at the NAB and drew parallels with the club and the NAB. He then detailed the five key statagies implemented to turnaround the NAB, I hope Smorgon & Co were taking notes.
He said quite clearly that his job at NAB left him little time for anything else and said that it did not permit him at this stage to take on a role at the club even though he would like to get invovled but he said with conviction he would do whatever he could to support Smorgon & the board to help with the Blues turnaround.
I will post more info about the breakfast later but rest assured Fahour will help where he can, he bleeds Blue!!!

National Australia Bank head of Australian operations Ahmed Fahour has silenced rumours he would jockey against Graham Smorgon for the presidency of the Carlton Football Club.

At a breakfast hosted by the club for Melbourne's business elite, Fahour said the club needed to re-focus on it members. "In the last few years, both NAB and the Carlton Football Club have fallen very hard from success," Fahour said. "We lost sight of that which makes us successful. We lost sight of our customers."

Fahour said Smorgon was the best man for the job.

"This is not a pitch for a leading position at the Carlton Football Club," he said. "I will do whatever I can to help the club, but I hope you will let me do it this way."

And from the other rag...

"The future will take care of itself, and right now I'm focused on the bank," Fahour told guests at a Blues executive breakfast.

Nice... :-D

Quote:
Fahour, who is reported to be on a four-year deal that with bonuses that could earn him $34 million, has offered to help the embattled club try to attract corporate support back to Princes Park.

I'm obviously doing something wrong...

Quote:
"If I can use my position to help get business people and some of the corporate world together to get back behind the club, that would be fantastic and that's what they need," Fahour said.

Some people are in a position to do something significant and other people are just in a position to buy a membership. Bring on those that can do something significant...

An astute businessman that one day will lead the club.

Notice he said, "The future will take care of itself, and right now I'm focused on the bank" meaning , NOT NOW.

AF about to talk on Triple M.

Key comment was if things at NAB were under control and quote "they could come along and help" he wouldn't rule out joining the board or putting his hand up as President. Another thing he mentioned is he doesn't have to be a member of the board to help Carlton out, if they need his assistance and contacts in attracting corporates he would help out.
