You do get a bit tired of the excuses. How often have we heard comments such as "We're a young group and you have to expect some ups and downs" or "We're working hard, just not getting the results" or "We know where we're at". After today, and too many other thumpings in the past few years, I'm over the excuses. I'd love to hear more statements like "We gave it everything we had". Too often the players have clearly not given their all.

Why doesn't the coaching panel, led by DP, just play our youngsters. Tell them they're in the side for 6-8 weeks and to play like there's no tomorrow. Just run and back yourself. Back your teammates by being prepared to kick to a contest. Let them have their heads.

Saddest thing is, Spud was spot on. He remarked that we should back the players, go man-on-man (despite Pagan's belief that we'd get 'smashed' in doing so) and aim to kick 15 goals ourselves. If the opposition kick 35 then so be it, but at least you've given yourself a chance, and the kids have all learned from spending an afternoon matched up on someone, earning their possessions.

I feel particularly sorry for the kids, and fear that their development will suffer if this continues to carry on - they're not learning how to play 'football' at the moment.

It's an indictment to all involved that I'd happily put Frawley in charge on a caretaker basis for the rest of the season rather than see this continue.

I don't need to vent against the team, I've been in the group that has felt that it will be 5 years at least before we will be consistently competitive again. At least I can start to see some changes to our line-up now.

My spleen is reserving its venting for posters who get out of hand over the next week.

Why do I feel there will be a couple of those?

A couple of things

At the game today and we obviously have many dumb footballers who dont chose the right option when they have the prune

We got well and truly smashed in the middle.Too many outside players.Interesting that Jackson was best in the ants twos.Hope he plays in the ants ones this week and may get a couple of games before the years out.

Saddington and Deluca have to be dropped for French and O'Hailpin.Saddington is hopeless with his decision making and in a one on one situation is a liability.Deluca is shit. One thing I will admit.Has he taken a contested mark.Bannister deserves another chance.McGrath is shocking at the moment.Bring in Russell.

The worst part about this game as mentioned before was the chipping around.flower kick it.Go one on one.Our players might be young but they wont develop as quickly with this sort of game plan. How much this is the players responsibilty and the coaching staff's responsibility I am not sure.To be 50 points down with guys kicking it backwards to each other 120m away from the goals is a farce of the highest order.

And no more recycled players. No more Saddingtons.Bannister could have done the job and better that Saddington has done this year and you never no pick 52 might of been a bargain.

Give Livo a go this week.Did alright at Cramer St and release Lance up forward for 2 reasons.
1 He deserves it
2 We may go more direct.

Teflon Terry won a game yesterday by the chip method. So they won.How good was it for the players development. It can be argued not very good in the long run.

I have tried to be less negative this year but in all honesty todays game was nothing short of an absolute flower disgrace.Change things.

I'm with you here Ruckus, even though I never rated Frawley as a coach, I thought his comments after the match were very good.

I reckon you've been left with little to do considering it's our biggest and most insipid loss of the season. I thought I was going to be dodging some huge bullets for being Pro-Pagan tonight.

*Pagan conceeded before the game had even started
*No forward line structure
*Didn't back the players in to win one on one contests
*They have a defensive mindset from the start, instead of looking for their direct opponent they just run back to the defensive 50
*Jarrad Waite's kicking was disgraceful once again
*Deluca getting game time ahead of Kennedy
*Tackling
*Kickouts

Two things.

Man on men is better for the kids education but they will get thrashed.. but thats ok.. cos we are being thrashed.
How can you learn when youre flooding??

It does look better for the club and the coach though... (damage control)

Number 2.. some players would be rendered useless the moment the zoning game gets called off... keep that in mind...

This is my biggest bug-bear with Pagan's approach, what is this style of play doing for the long-term development of our younger players ?? Surely playing man-on-man is the best way to improve a player's defensive skills plus ensure they are disciplined to do it when it comes time for the opposition to flood or worse still, run down the clock at the end of the game.

People wonder why supporters keep getting all high & mighty about what the coach or the club should do but if all we are doing is serving up cannon fodder for the opposition to take advantage of, then I feel we have a right to be shat off. On the other hand, if we copped a belting but the development of the younger players was getting fast-tracked at the samne time, I'm sure most people would cop it for the short term in the knowledge that it will be turned around in the not to distant future.
