Here you go Effes

Jetta, Leroy

Projected Position : Midfielder/forward pocket

Height & Weight : 177cms and 73kgs

Date Of Birth : 6/7/88

Current Club : South Fremantle

Projected Draft Position : Mid to Late 1st Round

To say he is quick is an understatement. He is freakishly quick and has
some of the best footwork I have ever seen to run around players and
make them miss. Makes players look like they are nailed to the ground
when he baulks them. Razzle dazzle player who can tend to try and do a
bit too much at times. More likely to go for impossible goals rather
than pass the ball off. What he does do is take players and break the
game open. Very good kick on either side of the body but at his pace he
rarely has to kick on the non dominant side.

Very good goal sense and suited to playing in the forward line and
getting possessions forward of the centre and making them count.

Hopefully he will round out his game some more this year and develop
the defensive side he will need. Learn to be accountable when he is
required to be. Would have a question mark on his endurance and whether
he will be able to become a full time midfielder in the AFL or a burst
player who will do a number of special things but drift in and out of
the game.

A wing/rover or a forward pocket. It is hard to know but despite his
small size he is able to compete against much bigger players. Shows an
ability to run and carry the ball and distribute well and run to all
the right places to either win the ball or be an option for someone who
does.

You add that to his pace, flair and balance and you have an enticing
package. Such a good natural goal kicker who crumbs the ball in the
forward line with great instincts and skill.

Played in the U18s Carnival for WA and showed himself to be up to the
standard there and was very exciting and stood out. Even though he can
be a bit selfish at times it is most likely just trying to impress at
the U18s and also in the WAFL under coaches instructions as from all
reports he is a very modest and humble player off the field.

He looks like he will have the ball winning abilities to become a
midfielder if he can develop the tank needed. The height and size are
the concerns in the future along with his endurance ability.

Instinctive player who is very talented and if he continues his development should go inside the top 10.

Played a senior practice game with South Fremantle a few weeks ago and
from all reports was silky and played well. Been training with the
senior group and looks set for many WAFL games with grown men in the
seniors and show how he handles that situation. Seems to have improved
his endurance and will likely be more consistent and less of a burst
player hopefully. Will still do the freakish but might be able to stay
in the game longer and have more influence.

Just a natural instinctive player with great skill and speed that is
going to have to deal with taggers and players running off him after he
is drafted. From all reports he is coachable and prepared to learn and
its just his natural way to attack and given time and some guidance he
will also develop the other parts of his game. Then be able to play as
a wing who sometimes pushes forward to kick and set up goals. Much
better than a forward pocket who is in and out of the play and is not
so influential. Has put on a couple of kgs as well it seems and looks a
bit stronger. All very good signs so far for Jetta in his pre season.

2006 stats for South Fremantle.

Colts (1 game) and 4 games for the Reserves 27 disposals a game , 6 inside 50s and 1 goal.

If Gibbs comes to Carlton his first role under Pagan would be to tag oppostion players

It is meant to mean as it reads.....Gibbs is no Judd in terms of pace!!!!

Gibbs has been running his opponents ragged this year.
He is also fairly pwerful for his age and size.

Judd is obviously the best player in the AFL at the moment, however I reckon there will be players ala Gibbs who will be on his level in the near future. Judd is the model midfielder, others will catch up.

Murphy will be a Cousins styled player when he matures. He still looks like a kid out there, but when he fills out he will marshall oure midfield in a similar fashion to Cousins.

I am happy to bow to people on this site who are far more knowledgable about prospective under age players. If Cazz, Mojo et al say Gibbs and Jetta I say bring them on down.

What pisses me off is the fact that we are not allowed to have 2 bites at the drafting pie in the first round - due to the changing of the PP rules this season - it is a reaming of the highest order and constitutes another year of draft penalties AFAIAC.

With the Pies about to finish in the top 4 this season after finishing 15th is the reason why the rule was changed - but to catch us in this rule is a damn disgrace and our Board should be screaming from highest roof top to amend this @#$%&! anomaly,

I teach Indigenous media in Darwin and on communities. I was lucky enough last year to establish a radio broadcast at the Charles Perkins Cup. An national interstate completition which was held in Darwin last year.

Leroy Jetta played for the WA Indigenous team.

Against the likes of Darryl White, and other ex AFL players.

The standard at the championships was incredible, especially in regards too the electrifying pace on show.

Jetta was the stand out for WA. He looked like a twig out there but some how didnt get smashed very often.

The most amazing thing about the tournament kwas that there ws only 1
AFL recruit there!
He was from blooby Essendon*.

Anyway he looked taller than he is probably due to the fact that cartridge paper is thicker than him!

For the record SA has won every Indigenous cup since it started.

Just the height issue holds him back and what sort of impact his lack
of size will have at AFL level. The pace and skill is exacly what our
club is crying out for but with so many small players on our list it
could be an issue. Some possability he slips to the second round but
most likely not.

Terrific. Copy and paste.

If people are going to use someones ( in this case mojo31 ) hardwork they could atleast give them credit for it.

Right with you here Agro. The A.F.L's timing with this is just plain cruel for where we're at. Not that I care a great deal about Essendon* but how pissed would they're supporters be at the rule change.

He is 177cms. Murphy is 179cms. Maybe the figure is slightly out.
Jetta was 176cms last year. I saw him live last year and he is very short. I get tapes of games this year and he looks the same. Maybe a kg or 2 bigger and slightly taller but still short.

It would be great if Jetta was taller but he is not. He is also not bottom aged and looks like he will be under 180cms when finished growing.

He has a lot of talent though and the type we need with his speed and skill and genuine game breaking talent. He has a teamate (and close friend) in Clayton Collard who is taller and bigger but not quite as quick.
I really like him as well and he has played all year in the WAFL seniors for South Fremantle and looking forward to him burning it up at the U18s.

Jetta 177cms and 73kgs born 6/7/1988
Collard 181cms and 76kgs born 4/12/1988
Gibbs 188cms and 80 kgs (at least) born 15/3/1989

for a size/age comparison of 3 quality runners. Draft camp results should be waited on for accuracy though.

Look how well Pearce played for the power this weekend! IIRC the query on him was his size...well look at him now his speed makes up for that!
He is currently listed as 177cm and 77 kg!!! No reason to pass on Jetta if he has the goods!

Blueblood,

What club does Gibbs play for in the SANFL? I think I might head down and watch him play this weekend. Do you know where and when his club is playing?

From memory the query was attitude and commitment/courage.

IIRC he was considered to be lacking in the heart department.

Glenelg and watch for James Sellar as well. 2 top prospects.

Gibbs will most likely play off the HBF and Sellar ruck/forward.

He plays for Glenelg.
Starting to play regularly in the seniors.

Glenelg play Sturt at the Bay on sat afternoon.
He was 3 best on the ground the last game he played (prior to the WAv SA game)so I am sure he will line up on sat.

For sure I'll stay in Adelaide this weekend.
