I have always rated Cellars as player and as a commentator his work on the ABC is very insightful. I would love to see him on the board at the Blues. I can not however get my head around why he would not join the board without action plan in place. The idea would be to get on the board and ensure it happens (do the hard work) what value would he add if the board revealed a plan he was happy with, would he join and become another yes man.

Out of interest how may sig's are required by members to call a EGM.

Unfortunately Elwood, DP has twice publicly said at the end of bad seasons (2003 and 2005) that "it's not the coaches, it's the players". Expect that again this year! For some reason he cannot function without TE.

I suspect TE frees up a lot of time for DP to do other things. DP often says that AFL coaching is a 24hr job - I'm sorry but if that was the case our players surely would display a higher level of skill than they do. The dribble that is constantly rehashed by DP is now becoming entertaining. It's a measure of how useless sports journalism is in this country that no one takes him on.

im all for stability but after hearing Maclure passionately state that once we go to the AFL we have lost The Carlton Football Club, that hit home. I hope that Pratt does challenge this board and we dont hand our balls over the AFL

Just because youre on a board doesnt mean the others are interested in what you have to say and do...
Often its all pre determined and youre sitting there making up the numbers.

18 months was 18 months into their tenure Surrey.. and please explain where you actually taked about a plan going forwward rather than just board bashing???
Youre "We have to stay at PP cos Elliot said it was profitable"

Its a 50/50 world when youre guessing.. sometimes you guess right .. sometimes you guess wrong.. you happened to guess right that time Surrey.. full marks!!!

Did you talk about plans??.. blueprints?? Development?? ...
what reasons did you give other than heresay???.. "someone told me Collo is a crook!"...

"Ëlliot was right to cheat but his mistake is he got caught!".. that one was doozie..

Ill give you credit Surrey,. You guessed right .. ut you never gave answers.. plans or real reasons...

Credit where its due...
Please show us where you recognised the REAL ISSUES???

What Maclure said was so right it isnt funny!

WHERE'S THE PLAN?

There seems to be no planning for the future of Carlton both on and off the field.

Just pointing out Surrey that your main gripe was leaving the ground.
In fact its the only positive )or big positive ) the board has done.. apart from getting rid of Elliot..

A combination of Mark Maclure as Director of Football with Ken Sheldon as Football Operations Manager would be a breath of fresh at the present point in time - perhaps we need to wait a bit longer into the season for that one.

I'd be every happy with those two at the club. That leaves 3 super heavy weights to make up the five or do we go the whole hog? A complete board routing!

Give me that over sacking denis any day!

yes yes I know Synners you want the lot.

Not happy with past players coming out and taking pot shots at the club. Could of and should have said we talked about a few things but it wasn't right for me at the time and left it at that.

Instead by saying that they didn't have a plan he paints a picture of amateurish behaviour and a club stumbling about without a clue. Then he starts with well Smorgon hasn't been there too long. The club needs support and ex players should be offering their input and doing the hard yards behind the scenes. We don''t have a plan well get on board Sellars and drive the planning process. By the way was he talking about a financial plan, a recruitment plan, a marketing plan, a player development plan, and a growth plan for the club.

Easy to say.. but that might be like going along with the Nazi party just cos you were born in Germany during the 30s

Sometimes its iresponsible to not speak out if you love your club/country...whatever...

I guess you wouldn't have been happy about the Club Honourary Dentist taking a pot shot at the incumbent board in 1964 either.

Lucky he did though.

I think if you played for the club and you're not happy with the direction it's going you can either join the board and help change the direction or join an opposition ticket and run againts them.

It's all too easy to say they didn't have a plan and so I didn't want to contribute especially when they don't have a chance to respond. Probably better if someone else has mapped out everything you have to do and then all you have to do is follow the lead and not do the hard yards. Bit harder when you have to get in, roll up your sleeves, put on the thinking cap and make sacrifices and decision which can affect the club you love.

I might not agree with everything the club does or has done in the past but their my club and i'll stand behind them. I certainly want them to improve both on and off the field and if you have an idea which can help please contribute but don't just criticise those that are at least willing to put the time in and try to help the club in its time of need.

I reckon if the club is commited to being a basketcase and you dont agree .. you MUST speak out..

They don't have a plan now and they didn't have a plan when they bent over and let the AFL give it to them from behind over the move from OO.

Go back abd look at the the publication they put out at the time:

1. The AFL said they would the redevelopment of OO into an elite training facility - still not done and no outlook.

2. Will secure the short & long term future of the CFC - has it? Still no outlook on this either!

3. Underpins the Carlton resurgance both on and off the field - still waiting for this one too.

4. Increased revenue opportunities - that is very debatable.

It is absolute bullshit for people to say now that people did not point out the fact that we were being sold a complete utter load of crap at the time. I asked on several occassions where are the redevelopment plans, the funding, the council approvals. There was no detail given on this and many other aspects of the above.

I also pointed out that I would not have moved until I was given assurances on the key element of the move and that was the redevelopment.

They had no idea what they were doing then and they have no idea what they are doing now.
