Its Simple!

We lose because we think we are going to lose!

Why do we think we are going to lose?
Because our players dont think they are good enough to win!

Why dont our players think they are good enough?
Because their coach doesn't believe in them!

Its true, Pagan continually tells us that our list is not up to it! But how can this be when our reserves team (which plays the players that are not up to the standard to get a game for Carlton) dominate the VFL!!! The very same players Pagan says arnt good enough, dominate in the reserves! Which to me says that our worst players are better than any other Victorian teams worse players!

Our list is actually awesome!!! What side in the comp would be able to handle a forward line of Fev, Lance, Kouta, Lappin, Betts, and Kenedy (if we play positive football), and we still have Waite and Fish to come in!!!

Imagine the other teams defence becoming more and more anxious as they see these guys at the start of the game all walking towards the forward 50. The opposition coach straight away is on the back foot. He didnt expect this. Oh shit, Carlton have the belief they can win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suddenly its the opposition coach that starts having doubts!

What Carlton needs is for Pagan to take a holiday! Promote Mitchell. Barry Mitchell is used to that winning culture! He knows what a win feels like! He would come in from the bullants expecting to win!! And thats what carlton needs, a coach that expects them to win!!!

To a certain extent maybe, but surely they don't think about this as much during game play. Maybe off the field they think we are not good enough or wateva, but if they are thinking about this on the field then something is definitely wrong.

I agree in principle that the club in general (not just pagan) has talked down our playing group.

But to describe our list as 'awesome' is staggeringly optimistic.

We have a good 10 players in our first 25 who'd struggle to get a game for any other club, bar Essendon*.

Go out on a limb JM and name them. 8)
I'd be pleasantly surprised because some of the names you might post might actually still be in a "development stage " and as such might just be better developed elsewhere, under a different system.

But then again i could be wrong... :-D

Read the interview on the CFC site with Wiggo. In there he explains how early on he was so concerned with making a mistake that it often caused him to make mistakes. He explains how now he is more relaxed and confident and he thinks that too much time in the senior squad early on might have put him back. This change of attitude coincides with what some think is one of his

In a losing side, under the pump every week, who can blame 18-19 yo players that were recently playing junior footy for being intimidated and scared of making mistakes each week. What young player wants to read about how all of melbourne, including the legends he has grown up idolising are taking shots at him in Monday's HUN.

Interesting to see he says his development may have been interupted by TOO MUCH football as a youngster.....Does that mean it was Britain that destroyed the Wiggler and not Dennis? I could've sworn is was Pagan :? :? .

By the way, Mike and Dan, why didn't you ask the big one.....Did you touch the ball?? :P

In the short time that Josh Kennedy has been playing I think the above statement best sums his current approach. Wiggler speak to him son, pass on your knowledge.

When I was 16, I played seniors for a team in Hawthorn. I didn't live near Hawthorn but my next door neighbour was the capatin and he asked me along to play with them.

This team was on the bottom of the ladder for the two years I was there. Some of you may recall this team headlined on the front page of the Sporting Globe "Dirtiest team in Victoria?"... 3 captains suspended, as were a plethora of players week in week out. I was shocked to say the least,as I was small, inexperienced and got belted evry week, but I had a goal to make it on the Hawthorn Under 19 squad.

Well 4 times in those two years something strange happened. In each of those 4 games we were the inferior team, weaker on every line, but had a very strong, tough and capable FF; the best in the comp...and me on the wing. We all had an attitude about us that we were going to win the game. It only happened on those 4 occassions, where we had an air of real confidence about us and a real winning attitude (not manufactured ra ra ra Rocky stuff), and we actually won 2 by 1 point, 1 by 3 points and 1 by a goal.

Moral of the story; It's 18 against 18 on the field, and if you are confident and play to win, you have a better chance of winning than going out there to merely represent the jumper and not challenge for the 4 points.

There's something in the saying that "90% of it is between he ears", and I've heard Pagan say it for a decade. Pagan is responsible for building up the players' confidence to win. Firstly he has to believe we can play to win, and saying it is a start.

I reckon we lose because we score less than the opposition... :?

What he is saying is he has been shit scared as a footballer and has lacked confidence.
