What about the comment when they brought up Kouta and the media

"Could you blame him"

somes up Kouta attitude this year and his poor performance when a coach even thinks its a lost cause

Great to see how Pagan and Kouta are instilling confidence in the kids if they both think its a lost cause.........how much more do we have to put up with crap!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Pagan was more honest than I've ever really heard him; open, pointed and specific, things you don't normally attribute to him.

On the downside, he was too negative, and should be selling the Club more - more on the kids, but sometimes I just dont know what posters expect (other than to not get slagged off in some parallel website).

Michael Christian reckons we have 15 players who have got good foot skills and 7 suspectible when pressure is applied. Stone the crows i'd be happy with those %'s but somehow MR C has got it wrong.

Pagan claims he knows what Kouta is going thru both physically and mentally. Is it possible that Kouta may be feeling guilt at what he's taking home each week based on his performances this year?

Sorry Rod its not Kouta fault with regards to what he earns. He may not be providing value for money but in essence you can't blame a guy who negotiated a contract many years ago. The club should wear this and let it be a lesson to them. No silly contracts.... Please...

You'd think we might have learnt with the big contract Kouta's on, and the one Lance was on.

Kouta's contract should've been paid out last year but the club and Anthony negotiated an extension to drag the payment out for another year. So in essence the money is paid for his B+F year last year. Essentially he is playing this year for free as I understand it

As I am hearing impaired, I find it hard to hear the audio.

Apart from what I have read in this thread, what else does the Pagan God say? Any transcript available?

I thought this was a pretty good interview. Sure Pagan was Pagan, but this is the first time I have really heard him talk openly about the blues.

He said: He likes to play the new guys for three or four games, give them ground time(ok we might not agree with that) and then drop them back to the VFL so they can build their skills and desire so they can "take a game by the scruff of the neck"

Said he would like to play guys like Bower (he also named a few others). He would also like to try out some of the guys from the Rookie list (named Craig Flint - just adding my own personal opinion is that not the best name for a defender in football history it has legendary full back written all over it - I hope he's a defender).

He also said that we were write up their against the crows for clearances, which maybe we were. He also said that it was just turn overs that cost us the game, which of course they did. He did not take credit/blame for the turn overs, but did admit that it might be a confidence thing. I would have like to have heard the interviewers push him a bit more on how he specifically goes about building confidence.

He also gave some insight into how the boys go after a game. How they come in on the Monday, they get talked to, divide up into their groups and the disect their performance in an honest and frank (at least he didn't say frank and earnest - perhaps now he is mixing metaphors), then by Wednesday they are ready to prime themselves for the next game.

I would have liked him to rationalize his defensive stand against the Crows when we were in it until after half time.

Still I thought that given the weak questions he was pretty open and that is all I am after. I can give him time if he can just let us know what the heck is going on.

i agree with RoK and its true that he has only played 3 or 4 fantastic years of football but if it werent for his knees there would have been many more of those years and he'll have to live with the pain of his knees for the rest of his life

Yes but if i wasnt such a shit footballer i could have been on a million dollars a year too....

Look mate!!!... i think some of you should just wake up and sniff your Nikes...

Football is littered with people that have had more injuries than Kouta and not gotten a fraction of what Kouta made.... take Dean Rice for example.. Bloody good footballer over a period of time with THREE knee recos..

this Kouta had a couple of knee recos so he should make squillions.. and the club has to go to the AFL cap in hand to pay his wages is ridiculous.

Kouta doesnt deserve more than anyone else.. on the back of 3 or 4 fantastic seasons...

Bruce Doull played more fantastic games than Kouta has had hit breakfasts and he never held the club to ransom...
