It's fair to assume that most if not all of the 15 other clubs would of offered kouta 1mill ( or thereabouts) to play for them after 2000 .. so i guess we had to come up with something extraordinary to keep him at the club

Actually 1 did - the Swans - and Allison and Kouta held out until Carlton matched every single dollar of it.

That's loyalty for you...

What happened to taking a lesser offer to repay the club a la Hird, Voss, J. Brown, etc...?

Wonder if they would have won that flag last year if they'd had a million dollar albatross hanging around the neck of their playing list?

So you debate the point and then when you can't anymore you decide we should all just forget about it?

My 4 year old does exactly the same thing (though she is growing out of it)...

Great to see Pagan say that he "supports Kouta whatever decision he makes at the end of the year".

Just like Sheedy and Hird.

Hang on - no it's not - Sheedy wants Hird to play on regardless.

You should get a job down at the Herald Sun seeing how much you like kicking this club in the face

That was a bit harsh. The Herald Sun is a great newspaper for footy and is alot better than The Aged.

The only person down at the Herald Sun who bags the club is Mark 'Bomber" Robinson, who has yet to be so scathing about his own pathetic team - instead he has a warm and fuzzy interview with Hird the EX CAPTAIN abotu how great Sheedy is.

Jim 'Bluey' Wilson is a massive supporter of the club but reports the news about the club no matter how bad it is.

The crap that comes out about us is based on the crap that is leaked by certain CFC board members of which half go the Herald Sun and the others go to The Aged.

I remember back in 96 or was it 97 when Kouta threatened not to play if he could not wear his adidas footy boots. We at the time had a contract with nike.

Yes Kouta has given us 4 years of sensational footy out of 15, but the more I think about it the more I think it's always been about the "what's in it for me" rather than the "club" with Kouta.

I'm not saying that the Herald Sun always gets its facts right Rhys26 but they are a hell of alot better than The Aged, which even today ran a story about a night GF that has already been refuted by the AFL as completely wrong - at least for the next 5 years.

Should a night GF come about in 5+ years, then The Aged will bring up the dated article saying - we told you so 5+ years ago!

And who'd want the facts to get in the way of a great story.

Poo paper for people with bottoms that don't care.

Nothing more.

To be fair there, Kouta signed his contract first and there are possible legal ramifications for breaking a contract.

On the other hand, we have an extra million in the kit next year given Kouta's contact runs out can we use it to pay out Pagan?!!!!

Curiously, did Kouta's contract count in our salary cap this year given he's on the veteran's list?

Half of it does.
