Does anyone know of a good ruckman in the draft?

We really need a good ruckman.

maybe we should have bred Harry Madden with Liz Ellis.

It would be ugly but talented. 8)

A bloke by the name of Leunberger or something like that from WA - 201cms and rated one of the best, if not the best, Ruckman in this draft

What kind of number pick will he go at?

This was a quality post since Wood, Maric and Deluca have played a grand total of 5 games between them. 15 other clubs also overlooked them in the first round and they aren't exactly setting the world on fire for their sides.

Give Russell and Hartlett time before you write them off after only 31 home and away games. Johnston, Bradley and Kernahan didn't debut until they were in their early twenties yet we are expecting miracles from 2 developing kids who are still finding their feet.

How can you say it was wrong to draft a 6'5" KPP who can kick a mile at selection 25? :?

I haven't heard much about Maric, Deluca and Wood to suggest they're going to be a better player than Russell and Hartlett. Just the interesting fact they play in the ruck and we don't have one coming through the ranks. I'm still happy we drafted Hartlett and Russell because our list was crying out for a power forward and a wingmen with pace.

Or did I fail to read between the lines?

Where did I say drafting Hartlett at 25 was wrong?

The other rucks haven't played many games as you'd expect from young rucks, but given the time it takes for them to develop it would be wise to draft one early in the piece instead of waiting until its too late and ending up with Ackland and Blake rucking

We'll agree to disagree on this one Juzz

When you mentioned the names of Maric, Deluca and Wood without specifically referring to Russell.

I'm more than happy with pick 25 after reading Mojo's description on the CSC. And one of these rucks might be homesick if the goss is correct.

Not much difference between Hartlett and Saddington in this picturewho is listed at 194 cms so I think he is approx. 6'5".

Maybe you should go to training and wave your pro-players banner next to him to make sure! ;)

Going to have to take you up on this one I'm afraid but I think it was the wrong decision.

As I understand it Hartlett had a history of being injury prone and there were queries as to whether he would have the body to hold up to the rigors of AFL football. Obviously its easier to comment in hindsite (hartlett has had 3-4 injuries in his short time at the blues) however I put it to you that given our apparent poor list, why did we take a punt on someone so injury prone? We werent in a position to gamble with our picks

Even if Hartlett gets over his injury problems and plays 300 games at the club it would still have been a poor recruiting decision at the time. We needed players that were low risk - not high risk, high reward prospects.

So if Hartlett plays 300 games it was poor recruiting.....

Wait.. i need to stitch my sides in ....

Look, what we need is as many kids as possible in the system and getting them DEVELOPED as well as possible.

Heard Neil Craig plugs a phone into their ears at training so he can tell them where to run without stopping the game sim...

Maybe i'm taller than i say i am. But even still, Hartlett look smaller than Kennedy and he's 195cm. Very strange.
Good size about him thou.

Synbad - it would still be a poor decision if Hartlett did indeed have a history of being unable to get onto the park regularly as a junior.

If hartlett plays 300 games great - but you cant overlook the fact that it was more of a gamble (that he would be able to remain injury free) rather than an informed decision - or are you going to tell me that the club had info at the time that Hartlett would become injury free once he was out of his teens?

Fact is we couldnt afford to gamble on selections in the draft - we needed to minimise the risks - if that meant going for a player with slightly less talent then so be it.

Angwin could have played 300 games - we gambled that we could get his head straight - in hartlett we have placed a similar gamble

Why don't you put up something Juzz? You're always quick to criticise but you never put anything up yourself.
