Looking at this weeks line up just makes me miserable and is further proof we have the worst list in the league by a country mile.

B McGrath (20) Livingston (4) Thornton (32)
HB Scotland (29) Whitnall (8) Teague (15)
C Houlihan (33) Simpson (6) Prendergast (28)
HF Stevens (24) Fevola (25) Wiggins (34)
F Lappin (12) Koutoufides (43) McLaren (10)
Foll French (11) Walker (12) Murphy (3)
Int (from) Bannister (31), Betts (19), Bentick (40), Bryan (27), Longmuir (21), Russell (2), Sporn (36)

Of the players named in the starting 18, I ask the question how many of these guys would honestly get a game in a top 8 - 10 side?
I suggest maybe 4 - 5 max. Whitnall, Fev, Stevens and maybe Murphy.
Guys like McGrath, Livo, Teague, Prendergast, Wiggins, McClaren, French, Houlihan, Sporn, Longmuir & Bannister are all rubbish.
Robert Walls made a good point on radio last night when Libba was on 3AW. He suggested that a lot of Carlton supporters would not be pleased with Kennedy and Blackwell being dropped and guys like Teague and Longmuir being selected. Walsy said what is the point of having these guys in the side when we know what they can do.
Libba's response was that guys like Teague have been playing great footy for the Bullants over the last 6 weeks and deserve a go in the seniors. That is a load of crap.
They do not deserve a go because all they will ever be is good reserve players.
We want to see how good our kids are and we should be working towards 2007 and beyond.
For example Jordan Russell should be in the seniors and given ground time. Same with Blackwell and Kennedy.
Craig Flint should be promoted to the senior list. He has not missed a beat all year for the bullants. This is possible as Davies appears to be out long term.
Sure we cannot have 22 youngsters running around in the seniors but we should pencil out the guys we already know a not up to it and build a side for the future.
Cannot wait for the year to end. This year will only get worse.

Cannot wait for Pagan to be sacked, is my thing.

No point even caring until then.

The man is a complete prick... I actually hate Pagan now. After the last few week's selection, the man has zero credibility and is just kicking us supporters while we are down.

He is a complete and utter prick who threatens to kill off my passion for the blues in general... lucky for him the fire burns too deep and will live a lot longer than his tenure in charge.

I think our 2002/03 sides were worse.

The rest of the interview saw the others in the studio agreeing with Libba, with Healy saying that those in the 2s have to have something to play for and deserve to be rewarded (with the implication that it's not like there's that much keeping them out). They also spoke about Kade Simpson, and how the mixture of 1s and 2s football in his early years helping him become a more established player.

But it is better to just pick out the bits that suit the story when you're looking through brown colour glasses...

Fair enough with Teague but Longmuir deserves another chance.
Can you believe that Prendergast earnt over 100 points in dream team comps against Adelaide. His average is 101 points and that is the highest average of all Carlton players after 9 rounds!

Oh boy the rest of the year is going to be fun....

Totally agree with you spilij and all those happy optimists can say what they like but it is depressing to see the lineup this week.

Ineresting posts coming up around 17.00 hours this Sunday.

It does lack a certain style this team.

I thinky Wallsy has been biting his tongue out of deference to the club, but he needs to do one of his scathing stories on the state of our playing list and our continual push to reward players we know who won't be here in 2007, with senior game time and the young ones with 31 minutes on the ground.

Get Setanta onto the ground and stick him down back. I hear the view from down there is great.

This club is run in an amateurish way reflective of the old days of VFL.

How sad that the likes of Ahmed Fahour and Daniel Grocon don't want to join the board.

God this club is frustrating me at the moment!

But God help me, I still love them.

I dont know any teams with Fotia, Sholl, Athorn were pretty crap - lucky they were playing with guys like Kernahan, Bradley, Silvagni and Williams that made them look good.

Probably "THe Carlton Shop" had 2 staff members in those days as well. :P

Surely Pagan and the commity have sat down and already decided the fate of the blues for the remainder of the season...

The young boys Gibbs and Sellar being in the changerooms at Adelaide tells the story you would think (for the Bombers too).

Does Pagan have his hands tied?? Or does he agree that the quickest way up is through the best young talent...Like most of us now.

While the bitter truth remains that the Blues are 15th on the ladder with only two wins for the season, Pagan said there were no members of the side 'playing for their careers' at this stage of the season.

"I don't think we would say that," Pagan said.

"We haven't even thought about that at this stage."

It is not Longmuir. He is playing on Sunday along with Betts who are replacing Kennedy and Blackwell. Emergencies are Bryan Bannister and Russell.

Yeah. It's weird. I thought I knew who posted this, somoene with supposedly good authority. But when I did a search for it, it drew a blank. The person who posted the rumour (and they supposedly had good contacts with the playing group) said they would let us know if Pagan played the player in question.

From my memory, this poster said the player was a stand-out trainer and part of the leadership group.

Maybe there is not mystery player, but there was a post, and just because it may have been deleted doesn't mean we didn't all read it.
