Just watched 'Last time they met' on Fox Footy. It was certainly one of our better games last year, even though we lost. Funny because the commentators said at one stage "Carlton are certainly not playing like a team at the bottom of the ladder."

Couple of interesting points.

1) We didn't flood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) Lappin was crucial up forward - then for some dumb ass reason (ala Lance last week) was moved to defensive role right after half time!
3) Peter Burgoyne was BOG last year - he will not be playing this time around.
4) Centre Clearances was a major factor of this games result. It was very even all day, much like the score line (the lead changed on 11 occasions!)
5) Waite and Fisher played good AND IMPORTANT games proving very hard for Port to match up on - they will not be playing come Sunday.
6) Simpson & Bentick gave Port a bit of a head ache in the midfield, would be good to use them in that role again this year.
7) The was a HUGE focus on Tackeling - which really got to Port.
8) We stuck with the, AND WERE THE BETTER TEAM, until the last quater when it started to rain really heavilly. The Forcast for Sunday is fine! :-)
9) Thornton knows Tredrea quite well and held him to just 2 or 3 goals from just a few kicks, and at one point forced him up the ground to a full back position when Carlton had all the momentum.
10) MCG suited Port's style of play more than the Telstra Dome does!

Don't think rain will be a factor this time at TD!

Last time we met we lost by 99 pts and Dennis Pagan said to everyone at the family day it would not happen again.

That was utter rubbish from us, we haven't played that badly since.

Christ, I went and said it...

The ineptitude of our performance against Port was staggering, we looked a lot more interested than against the Saints.

I disagree jimmae - I think they were carbon copies of each other. I think tactically in both we were shocking and we criss-crossed at all costs. I think the attitude at the start of the Port game was very good but we could not / did not overcome Port's flood, got flustered, and the game was over.

How far have we sunk when we are comparing shocking losses against themselves!
