Quote: " McGuire cited Carlton and Essendon* swtiching games from the MCG to Telstra Dome and Melbourne and Hawthorn selling them interstate, but said Collingwood had waited patiently for the MCG to be redeveloped".

This is how a strategically focussed Board operates. We are a shambles.

Was it Smorgon who decided to move Carlton to Telstra?

I thought it was the previous board, with Collins not voting because of the conflict of interest.

Smorgon was part of that board and directly involved in making the ground switch decision

:?

Collingwood brokered their deal well before Carlton, Kermit.

Staying at OO too long was the problem.....and were'nt you one of the people wanting to stay?

which HOME games did we shift from the G to phone dome?

this is our 2nd year away from MC Labour Optus Princes Oval and while i've definitely forgotten everything apart from what i remember, i don't recall us moving a home game from the MCG to telstra dome.

he also mentions richmond in that group. now, they've been at the MCG since 1965 and again i can't remember them switching a game and i know they prefer playing at the G every time.

is eddie referring to the fact that carlton richmond games have been played at telstra recently? is he aware that this is part of demitrispew's punishment for the poorly attended game in round 22 of 2004? (i think that's the year). the spew even threatened to demote us from our blockbuster status with our arch rivals on the basis of this one game against richmond!!

of course that was in the days when the spew was sinking the boots in. now it seems his lastest appraisal has seen the resurrection of carlton included among his KPIs.

so what is eddie's point, apart from his usual chest-thumping? they got a magnificent deal at the G and good luck to them, it was well played and kudos to them. of course collingwood wasn't going to walk away from a good deal while the stands were being built!!

i know eddie has victorian the football community where he wants them, but i don't get this latest outburst from the grate man ...

KERMIT.. but clubs are losing 50k a game at the G.

Our board didnt make the decision to not play at the G... Elliot did...

Go hold a sign outside his apartment.

Collingwood had no choice but to leave .. they got a ripper deal and they took it...

Took alot of brains didnt it???

Synbad right at the moment that might be correct but how much money did the club make with a crowd of 18k at TD? Take out the medallion club and other corporates and we would have been luck to have have had 10k payers there.

Eddia is no genius whatever the spin doctors want to tell you. He has all the integrity of a tv talking head, and maybe a few more brains than most of them, but that's it. The Tiges left Punt Road for the G in about 1965, does that make them prescient geneii? C'wood left their little hole of a ground because they had to, and there was a good deal to be got. If Elliott had looked forward, he should have seen the writing on the wall for small home grounds with poor public transport. If we'd not built the new stands and gone to the G in 98, 99 or 2000 when we still had a powerful reputation and performance, we would still be a crap side now, but we wouldn't have debt. The deal at TD was the best we could do. Once the PP deal with the AFL expired they could have us playing at Skinner Reserve if they wanted. I saw us at the G agaisnt freeo last year and I much preferred yesterday against Port at the Dome. The dome is great for night games and low/ medium attendance games. We couldn't get 40,000 to the G when we played Essendon*.

Our administration (Elliott) have made shocking decisions, that doesn't make Eddie McEgo a genius for making obvious decisions.

I'm going to split this topic to remove the off topic posts into a new thread which will be locked. If anyone wants to continue asking questions about the content of the locked thread please do so via PM.

The mods have given all concerned parties enough leeway on this matter, we don't want discussion about the merits of another forum aired on this website. Ever!

We already have enough people here telling us how to do our job as it is, let alone having someone on here tell another forum how to do their job.

KERMIT you have a very narrow view of the world if you think the next 8 years is about that game.....
