Uncommitted huh?
Yep, I can see the logic. Let's say I am a 22 to 23 year old player who hasn't set the world on fire. Then I get a chance in the seniors. I could go and try my guts out to show that I am capable at AFL level. Then, maybe someone else would be interested in me, or I could continue playing with the Blues for over $100K a year. But no - I have a stroke of genius

How about playing like a dud? That way, I don't have to play under Pagan, and can play under Mitchell in the VFL. I can even play in a VFL premiership. Sure, it will cost me $2,200 in match payments each week, but what the hell. Over 4 years, this sneaky campaign by a bunch of strugglers might even see Pagan unseated. Oh joy

Pity then that I won't get a chance to play under the new coach, because London to a brick the Board will demand that the new coach plays the young recruits. And with the upcoming superdraft, it's almost inevitable that I'll be delisted. But that's when my plan really blossoms. I tell all the recruiting managers that I was tanking because I didn't want the coach. I'm sure that there'll be plenty of clubs willing to take a chance on an apparently dud player from a bottom team who deliberately plays under his best if he feels like it. It worked well with LA, Karl, Cupido and Begley, so it should work for me too.
Now, of the senior boys, I can't see how many of them could be playing all that much better. Fev and Lance are having great years. Barney is in the wars but trying, and the same with Lappin. Scotland is playing well. Kouta is on last legs.
And the youngsters just want to play regardless. They haven't had a major opportunity, and I doubt if they'd tank to change the coach.
Yep, we'd be absolute champions if only they'd change the coach
