The interesting part was when Rohan Connelly brought up the 'Carlton supporters aren't happy that you are playing Prenda, Teague, Wiggo instead of kids'. Got really defensive, although did raise good point that you couldn't give up on someone like Wiggo at 23 (therefore inferring you couldn't give up on these guys yet, they are still young and can improve). Then rambled about how you can't ignore VFL form and used Sporn as an example where he averaged 25 touches over 5 weeks. In the same breadth he acknowledged there was quite a step up from VFL to AFL. He kept going to talk about JK and how there was no point in keeping him in the seniors where he could lose confidence and that it was much better that he went back, kicked a few goals and played in a winning team. He was fully prepared for this line of questioning.
This drives me nuts. Yes, Sporn averaged 25 possies in the Bullants as a
midfielder, but comes in and gets barely half a game as a hbf when we have a midfield that is clearly crying out for breather. Prenda earned his spot as a
forward, yet plays a run with role on Chad Cornes. Needless to say neither had any effect on the game. Wiggens on the other hand plays a similar role to that which won him elevation and wah-la, with game time, he appears to be making the transition (dare I say 'developing').
