The leading tackler in the AFL is 82kg.
3kg less than Trent Sporn but similar height!

Tackling is about technique, desire and commitment.
Half hearted efforts reap half hearted results.

It's interesting how a hard tag can affect certain players ...couple in our side don't seem to handle the attention too well...

Correction. He's even less than that - 78kg according to AFL website.

James McDonald from Melbourne.

And our tacklling has been rubbsih for 5 years - not strong enough to hang on, and not strong enough to break one.

If we are:

Not good with our skills.

Not smart with our decision making through the middle.

Not strong enough to tackle/ or break tackles.

Not quick enough to win possesion of the ball.

THEN WHAT ARE THEY DOING AT TRAINING AND IN THE PRE-SEASON?

We seem to be inept in every facet of the game.

That doesnt predominantly come down to talent, it comes down to work ethic and desperation.

Which makes me think that the whole coaching department is doing a poor job?

Can anyone think of any other reason why we seem to be shit at everything? :garthp: :?:

At least we're consistent.

And I think it's time for a clean out in the coach's box.

It all seems a bit too coincidental for mine that our relative competitiveness vanished the minute Collo was out the door and we went asking for dough. If the mindset is to look so bad that the other clubs won't oppose it then that would explain the MC selections of late. Obviously as another form of tanking they are hardly likely to fess up. Geez footy and all that goes with it was a lot simpler in days gone by. The very idea of not playing to win would have been unthinkable then, but I have no doubt that is exactly what goes on now and it's not the players. They would be unaware on the whole. Its the selectors and tactitians that engineer these things. As horrible as it seems tanking in its various forms is the only explanation for the decisions that some coaches (including DP) make that really makes sense. Why else would one meet with Bryce Gibbs at this stage of the season.

Gibbs wanted to meet with the clubs that might draft him. He can't know whether he will be pick no. 1 or 5, or somewhere in between, tho he would have a fair feeling he has a chance of being No. 1. From the clubs' point of view, they would want to establish a relationship with him and his family. That way, they would be able to make educated guesses about the likelihood that he would remain in Victoria, and more importantly with that club. And character is now such an important part of decisions regarding drafting. Better to use the chance now to size him up rather than do this based on a 10 minute interview at draft camp.

From our point of view, there is a big chance that we will have pick 1 or 2, and a good 2nd half of the year wouldn't drop us far down the order. Why wouldn't you talk to him in these circumstances? There's a fair argument that reality rather than tanking is behind that.

Thanks for setting the record straight SOS

We need as much reality as possible, to get a bit of balance on this forum.

So you're saying we're not really this bad, it's just an elaborate plan?

Our match committee cant engineer a simple kick out strategy and you think we can contruct a ruse to fool the entire football community? :?

Next.
