Pity there's no public access to the gym - now THAT would have been a great community initiative. Used to piss me off living around the corner from the ground and having to hike it to the Melbourne City Baths for a workout.

Anywho, wonderful news. It looks as though they're adopting an 'if you build it, they will come' attitiude WRT to admin offices, sports halls, al fresco cafe et al. When I see plans like this listing 'possible' users of the space, I tend to get the giggles.

Now - for the Matheson announcement ...

Such great news...confirms my belief that we are at the start of our renaissance. Proving that good things come to those that wait.

i think a study indicated that a public gym was not financially viable.......

those plans had been drawn up last year, the entry to PP is getting a make over with a big Carlton feel to it

Melbourne Uni's gym just got quadrupled in size a year back so building one down the road hardly seems feasible.

Me thinks they may look to corner the local swimming school market?

Would have thought that the Australian National "Fencing" Centre would be better located at the Lexus Centre. :P

Good news - even if it is a long way from reality.

Also, I hope the marketing arm briefed Bryce last week.

Does this mean that:

a. We're getting the largest share and the others don't have much to show
b. We're further down the track than the others
c. The other clubs have been included to make the development of PP more palatable to them
d. Our marketing department is the best in the league...

b.

Michael Malouf has been working on this for a long time, the plans are reasonably well developed.

Yes, I believe MC Labour have given special dispensation for the training facility to be named the "Bryce Gibbs Community Training Facility".

thats were the fencing and indoor training center will be to be shared by us and the community.

you would think that the first phase, which would be knocking down the gardner stand and building the new facility will take place. The rest who cares aslong as we get a new gym, medical and admin facility
