No problem with giving a rookie player a call up, but they are just not playing good enough to get a spot in the seniors befor some of the other guys.

i dont think we should promote flint, yes based on what i have seen i think he will be good for us in a back pocket in years to come, but he is tiny, he would get thrown all over the place in the seniors, also Flint can have next year to develop as a rookie so dont ruin him by brining him into the seniors, he is developing nicely in the 2's atm.

I say promote smith, play him for 6 or 7 games straight (do the same with russell) in the midfield rotation, our midfield is weak, he is a genuine midfielder, he is starting to hit good form the past few weeks, and this is his last year of his rookie contract, i say give him a go, he might be exactly what we need some toughness in the centre square

If all the game reports and what I've heard on the radio are to be believed, Smith only hit his straps last week.

Needs more time but now we have a means to have a look at him if we deem him capable of a game.

jimmae: i though smith was awesome against tassie the week before, him and russell's clearance work around the clearances was excellent,

if we dont promote him and give him a go in say 5 weeks (after the mid season break) we may not see him ever, as with the super draft coming up and his rookie contract coming to an end he may never get a chance to play carlton seniors, i say maybe promote him after the split rnd and play him from rnd 16 to rnd 22 and see what hes got and decide whether hes worth a spot on the senior list next year, that way he can continue his good form in the ants for a few more weeks then hit the ground running in the 1's

Troy is out for the season so the question from here is, which of the rookies should come up?

None. Why elevate a rookie when better performed players like Blackwell, Russell, Bannister and Carrazzo can't get a regular game?

Denis and the MC are struggling to work out how to manage the players they have at there immediate disposal, let alone those they 'could' have. Keep em away from the 17 minute 'nothing' roles methinks.
