Pretty self explanatory, just been reported on mmm that houlihan was offered 1 week for his bump on Rosa.

Unsure of the criteria at this stage but you'd have to think he could get off considering it was almost exactly the same as Medhursts hit on him and from memory got off.

Straight out hip and shoulders are not worth a week.

If the elbow is tucked (as it was for this bump - elbow only lifted after impact) then any head high impact should be considered collateral damage.

If Houlihan goes for that then the game is in a sad, sorry state.

The bump is legal they say... sure it is

Houls has been done in by his tough man enforcer reputation yet again.

Arm was not raised

Should only have been a free kick.

Nope.

Play on in my book.

The bump must not be forced from the game.

With a fair hip and shoulder.

As long as the elbow is tucked, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Houlihan is a dirty mongrel who snipes players all the time...should get life....if it hit Rosa's head then his first born should get life also..

The match revue/tribunal system is really in la la land

Yet, funny how a week after Fev got a week for his bump on Kirk, Nathan Lovett-Murray wasn't even considered for an identical hit on Didak (?), who had his head down over the ball.

I heard on The Offsiders on ABC TV, that Choco Williams raised the idea that the rules should be amended that if one player has his head down, and arms down going for the ball, then any player who goes the bump must also be going for the ball. When a player has his head over the ball, then I think that's a pretty fair amendment.

Surely he would get off with his record, has he ever been to the tribunal?

Houla can have next week off, I don't care....

Seriously, absolute joke Houla being up. If you compare Houla to Jade Rawlings bump, Houla's was soft yet he draws a worst off offence...

Quote:
Rawlings was charged with engaging in rough conduct against Tambling during the first quarter of match between the Kangaroos and the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
The incident, a level two offence, was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (one point) and high contact, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match suspension.
However an existing good record, which is subject to confirmation by Football Victoria, and an early plea has seen the penalty reduced to 126.56 points and a one-match suspension.

Quote:
Houlihan was charged with engaging in rough conduct against West Coast's Matt Rosa in Sunday's clash at Subiaco Oval.
The incident, a level three offence, was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), high impact (three points) and high contact (two points), drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match ban.
But Houlihan's clean record, subject to confirmation by Football Victoria and an early plea, will see the penalty reduced to 126.56 points and the suspension knocked back to one match.

Ryan "the Hitman" Houlihan, says

This ain't no game for no damn sissies!! If you ain't got the balls then don't step into the ring you pencil-neck geeks!!

Honestly - why do they even bother with these bull$hit charging citations when the other arm of their own enforcement bodies are just gonna let them off?

I guess the "Carlton exception" rule will make it worth their while though...

hmm, I thought you are not allowed to make contact anywhere above the shoulders?? It should have been a free kick only but definitely not worth a week.

The AFL really need to work out this whole bump thing - it's so inconsistent it's not funny.

Houla's bump was probably my favourite part of the game.

Within the next 5 minutes it showed how desperate we were, Fev went a over t in a contest, and it was really on.

I just felt gutted for the boys at the final siren

Generally speaking...the report is a disgrace, and the tribunal is palgued with inconsistency. But the fact that he is a Carlton player...now I understand that the desision is consistent.
