The first and the third quotes would be accurate. Collingwood supporters on a whole wouldn't care about our plight. They don't want to see us out of existence. They just want to see us keep losing.

However, this loss last weekend was nowhere near as bad as Round 22 in 2003 against the Kangaroos at Telstra Dome. To me that was our worst lost and when we were at our lowest ebb.

I posted this in another thread - but this article by Sheahan is really a sad and puerile piece from a so called senior football journalist.

How you could come up with a "Collingwood angle" in an article about a meritorious performance by a well drilled, tough West Coast Eagles side and an inexperienced and young Carlton side is completely beyond comprehension.

There is no possible connection you could make about this game to Collingwood so you invented some fantasy about Collingwood supporters not wanting to feel sorry for Carlton supporters for a loss in these circumstances

The connection is that it was one of the best come from behind wins in history of the game. The margin of 44 points was the same that Carlton came from behind in 1970 to win the premiership. This article was in yesterday's paper when Collingwood was playing.

You cant be serious malleefowl - the angle on this story of course is the come from behind victory - but the margin of 44 points is merely a coincidence and is an extremely long bow to draw.

Mike Sheahan deliberately set out to belittle a brave Carlton performance by ludicrously suggesting that Collingwood supporters would have no pity on Carlton in these circumstances.

But why didn't he suggest the same thing in his articles last week about West Coast and Geelong.

Well honestly you CAN see the similarities. I mean, coming back from 44 points down in a GRAND FINAL to win a PREMIERSHIP against ANOTHER grand finalist who lost their 4th Grand Final in 11 years is very similar to the top team beating the 15th team in a meaningless mid-season game when the only thing at stake for that 15th placed team is a number 1 draft pick.

If you write enough articles you could make enough money to buy some perspective (and use the change to get some journalistic integrity).

There have been around 17,000 matches of League footy. You'd expect that a few of them might have the same scores as a few others.
