If he is not the best forward in the competition this season he is very close - with only Jonathan Brown that may be better
43 goals in 10 matches in a team that has won 2 out of 11 speaks volumes about his skill dedication and ability
Last week was the first time this year he got a couple of cheap goals for the season and given we like to play a spare man in defence he usually plays against 2 defenders
He conjures goals out of nothing consistently
His application this year has been sensational apart (hello the Game - its the clown again :-D ) when he got reported against the swans
His 4 goals average would have been pretty handy that night against Hawthorn
He is our marquee player and supporters young and old love him

I found a comment interesting by one of the commentators on SEN after the game yesterday. They were talking about who should be the next captain for the blues, and it was suggested that Fevola should take on the role because a) his attitude to the game has turned around and is a totally different player and b) it would help Fev get to greater heights if he took on the role.

The other commentator said it should go to Whitnall because he has shown more leadership over a longer period of time as opposed to Fev who only this year has changed.

Ive been on the Whitnall for captain bandwagon for years. I think if he continues this form throughout the whole year he should have it handed to him. Kouta's heart just definitely isn't in it anymore...unless his body is that shot...either way he shouldn't be playing.

Yeah good 'ol Fev!!! I just love watching him now it's a complete turn around.

Love watching Fev, but I don't know about the captaincy.

You just know that even if he has one bad game every 5-6 or has one brain lapse, Sheahan and his mates will be on the 'Fev is an irresponsible captain' bandwagon in seconds.

It's easy Matthew Richardson journalism.

Fev has been excellent and we would be stupid to trade him...be glad when Fisher and Waite return so we can give him some help and make us less predictable....

He has always had the talent but now with the discipline and work-rate he is the best full-forward in the competition.

...can you imagine how many he would kick with delivery from the West Coast/Adelaide midfields

atm with lloyd out he is by far the best FF in the comp and he's one player who always has to earn his goals (except first qaurter last week) if he continues like this i think he's a good chance to be the all-australan full forward something we haven't had since lappo was on the bench a few years ago

To think some people laughed at me when i said he could be in the mix for our next captain!

I reckon a end of season tally of around 80-90 goals is totally achievable for Fev this year! :-)

Coleman????? Hmmmmmmm, i;d probably say no at this stage, but only because other Forwards out there have currently got far better delivery at this stage.

But even more impressive than his # of goals is his imporved leaderships skills that he has taken on board.
Watch how he talks to players like Murphy/Betts/Russell/etc..............

Imagine if he constantly booted the absolute sodas that he misses sometimes... He'd be reverred as an absolute freak!

He's certainly matured a fair bit (or at least he's not getting caught these days).

He's a gun and the roosters that want to trade him have got rocks in their head. I hope they all get sand in their jocks and their remote controlls never work again.

Fev's achievements in '06 can't be dismissed.

Interesting I was lucky enough to have dinner with Leigh Matthews in late '04 and when I asked him about Fevola he replied "I wouldn't have him in my core group if I was coach of CFC".

The Fev has come a long way in a couple of years hasn't he.

Interesting that Foxtel commentator in the game said that Fevolas lairising cost them a goal

I thought the lapse when they started that stupid chipping game for a minute cost them another vital goal

They have to learn to win.

Healey said on the couch he flew back with Fev after sunday's game and Fev said apart from the faith shown in him by pagan the biggest change was cutting out the off field stuff - told healey he hadn't had a drink since christmas.

good post frank. i agree, probably our only A-grade player at the minute

Altho Murphy will be and Whitnall is impersonating one at the minute.

Fev is having his best year by far. It is great to see him take the next step to become a truly elite forward. If he continues on in the same form then he will be AA full-forward at the end of the season.

I don't think he should be captain though. I would rather Lance at this stage. Who knows though in the future.

That type of discipline reminds me of the Blues of '95 when the players decided that off-field drinking and carousing was not going to happen in that year.

I think impending fatherhood has also set him right.

As Fev has turned a corner, Carlton has also turned the corner.

Fevs hasn't come out and said i want to be captain so i wouldn't put such a burden on a player that is starting to really believe in himself.

Lance shows that he wants the captaincy so i would share it between him and Stevens (Captain, and vice captain). Lappin can also be a vice captain.

The scary thing about Fevola (scary for opposition supporters) is that he is really just strating to hit his straps.

Listen to him speak and you will hear someone lacking in confidence somewhat at times....He is just recently starting to geniunely believe that he can be succesful...On and off the field.

Who else has noticed that he is really throwing himself at packs for marks?
Previousley he thought he was just a leading type player.

Boys and girls strap yourselves in tight for the Fevs show over the next few years. 8)

Would love some sort of change of leadership to reflect the changing tides & hopes of the CLub but hope it isn't Lappin. To me, Lappin's mind is struggling to keep up witht he pace of the game - its passing him by as we speak.

Anyone sub 26 or so would be a good way forward for the Club. Hell, I'd give Wiggo the VC at the moment.

As I have mused to my inept older brother, also a member of this brethern, since his first game way back in 1999 Fevola is without a doubt the greatest player the AFL has ever seen.

Was only half serious at the time, but his solo performances holding this rabble in a realm of semi decency is pretty damn impressive. He is one of the few Blues that is playing consistent, disciplined football.

If he isnt an All Australian this year, I will be absoluetely amazed, well I will be more than that, but it probably isnt suitable to print here........
