It's a tough question. I actually think that of the three teams on the bottopm, the Kangaroos are the worst and that we are quite capeable of beating them, in fact I would rate us as favourites for the match.

Thing is if we win its likely both Essendon* and kangaroos will get the extra pick each in a super draft we will miss out by a game and miss a superstar and a very good player at pick 18 whilst our mortal enemy who hasnt experienced the pain we have will get it all in one go by getting gibbs or hansen and a couple at the start of round 2 then they will just jump straight back past us and we will finish last next year in a crap draft.

The fact is I love the Blues and would like to see them win, but we dont have enough quality youngsters to be a top 6 contender even 4 years down the track so unless we get some TOP talent now we will be like this for the next ten years, so I will put up with 1 more year of heartache to get that real top talent we need...I wdont want to finish last but second lsat witha gibbs or hansen and finishing on four games would be perfect.

yeah 15th would be the ideal position for us for this year and for next year then we can look to start winning games but by then all of our supporters will be calling for pagan's head and we'll get rid of hima nd get a crap coach who doesn't know anything about the players we've drafted over the ast 3 or 4 years and we'll be finishing 9th-12th for the next 5 years. hope we stick with pagan and it doesnt come to that.

i dont understand what you people are saying if we come 15th dont we get the 2nd pick? which would be either hansen/gibbs/selwood etc. or if you wanna go by last year it's xavier ellis at 2 and patrick ryder or sumfing at 5?

If we had won another game we would have given up the right to a priority pick - Collingwood and Hawthorn had priority picks so we would have had to wait until they had used their Priority pick AND their first round pick.

1.Collingwood
2.Hawthorn
3.Collingwood
4.Hawthorn
5.Carlton

What we're saying is it's better to not win one or two games if it means we get an opportunity to pick up ANOTHER kid who could play a big part in rebuilding the club. We could still finish 15th with no more than four wins and get a priority pick at the start of the second round.

I'm happy _ that's probably not the right word! _ to suffer the embarrassment of another spoon if it means we get another crack at an extra great kid.

I dont mind either way - win or lose.

We are clearly bottom 4 material and are likely to get one top 4 and a couple of top 20 picks with 4 wins for the year.

While someone like Gibbs would be desirable, I still think we will have a sufficient number of good young players to emerge from the wilderness in a couple of seasons time with say 4 wins and finishing 3rd last....

what im trying to say even if we win or lose against the kangas were not going to finish higher than 15th but it will og a long way in helping us avoid a spoon and we still get a good pick given the quality of this year's draft

What are you talking about? If we beat the roos, we're more than likely going to finish 14th or higher, depending on how many more games we win for the year.

kangaroos will win more games later this year theyre just out of form right now but this is one of our very rare chances to win a game and probly this and essednon are winnable games for us and 4 wins for the year isnt gonna make us finish any higher than 15th

Given that we have broken the duck (and bragging rights) by winning our first spoon in 2002 then who cares how many others that we win? Obviously we don't want to go on winning spoons for the next 10 years, but given our plight at the moment one more wouldn't hurt. I wouldn't mind if we ended up last this year and picked up Gibbs. By all reports it will be worth it. Who cares that we won the spoon last year and picked up Murph? No one. So let's lose to the Kangas and tank our way to Gibbs. Alternatively, we could keep playing as we are and still end up with Gibbs. ;)

yeah, thats it!!!.. that would be a fantastic outcome.
Keep lance and make him captain plus win 5 games of footy.

Then go crying to the AFL to give us picks...

Master planners.

Seems to be a few Basil Fawlty's offering up their plans for the future here.

Strange thing is, all of them have been wetting their pants in excitement over Marc Murphy this year yet can't see the rationale on how to get another 2-3 like him next year.

Yes, sure, some people are taking a long term view.

But don't begrudge someone wanting to win this weeks game for some joy.
