It seems in the time after the alleged "home truths" session, we seem to be playing better. Players being more creative and being willing to mix up their play. Keeping possession, kicking long - never being predictable. This has helped us, I believe, play better in the last couple of weeks. Maybe Denis has given them more of what they want. He's done more bench rotations and seemed to have given more latitude to his players.

We fade out because we've lost the feeling of how to win and I think this is what the coaching staff must re-ignite in the playing group. Yes, I know, the old arguments about getting good picks will come into it, but the problem I see, is if we're going to tank, we'd better do it properly, if we win, I want to see us win 8 to 10 games rather than just 5 or 6.

The losing culture is a serious problem that we face and although yes, we need some extra talent, particularly in the back half and midfield, with the draft being like it is this year, the guns are spread throughout the draft. Yes, the extra pick in the top 20 would be handy but we've played well enough to really have won the last couple of games and we'd be 4 wins this year and the priority pick would be almost impossible.

The confidence within the playing group has improved and has resulted in better skills and more confidence in each other - which has improved the team as a whole.

Thoughts?

Good points raised CC

I will go out on a limb here and suggest that Pagan should be given kudos for the way he has coached over the last couple of games.

has let the kids PLAY good attacking footy, and this has helped their DEVELOPMENT....

I'm sure many on here will take to me with a verbal axe for praising DP, but I reckon give credit where credit is due......

As I said in another thread; we lost thru inexperience and what Jack Dyer used to call "LOSINGITIS".

We're not attuned to crushing the opposition yet for various reasons; but we'll learn with confidence gained by winning.

We've got a lot going for us at long last; as supporters.....patience!

still not happy/convinced that pagan is the right long term coach for the club. However I am a lot happier with the way the team has approached games, the amount of game time given to youngers and game plan/matchups/team structure - in that respect, good on pagan for doing the right thing (or at least moving in that direction).

In terms of being able to close off games - it shouldnt take that much to build that extra mental strength/resiliency and the mindset that we can win (as opposed to just trying to win)

see that I can respect 4th. Whether Pagan is the right coach or not, at least there seems to be improvement which is a relief.

This post was in no way intended to defend Pagan at all. In fact, it's more an indictment. If he has allowed the players a little more free rein, then it's as much the players being able to show their skills and natural talent rather than being held on a leash.

Have people on this site become so anti pagan that any hint of a statement not attacking him has to be defended?

Seeing this is home truths thread I'll add my 5 cents ....

Ryan Houlihan grab the video and have a look at some of your efforts in the game against North on Friday night.

Pretty much.

Mob mentality tends to have its way on the main board, and anyone posting anything remotely not anti-Denis is tarred and feathered.
