CARLTON
Jordan Bannister: Former Bomber who can't find a role in this team as a tagger or onballer.
Callum Chambers: Only 12 games in two years at Carlton. Would need an amazing form turnaround to keep his spot.
Luke Livingston: In his sixth year he has snagged five games for 37 possessions. It's not enough for the tall defender.
Troy Longmuir: Out for two months with a shoulder injury, but hasn't made an impact before then.
Ian Prendergast: Carlton's growing ruck stocks have hurt him. Has played the past three and needs to continue on.
Trent Sporn: Only 46 games in his six years at Carlton. Might be time up despite his talent.

In contrast, Carlton and Kangaroos ruckman Mark Porter walked into Dean Laidley's office in late-2004 pondering a new contract and walked out a former AFL footballer.

Young kids like Jonathan Hay and Jade Rawlings :)

In the super draft I'd rather draft a kid in his place. Has another 10 weeks to prove otherwise to me.

Bring in more spare parts players from other clubs and have those supported by players who cant get a game at other clubs....
Dont give blokes like Bryan , Livo, Sporn a game.....

Synbad,

Agree 100% about the hacks from other clubs.
But
Bryan - Talented but doesn't work hard enough, can't afford to reward blokes who don't put the effort in.
Livo - Quality person but seriously he is not up to AFL standard unfortunately
Sporn - has been really hard done by. Has been made to play too defensive by our current super coach and Brittain
.

Cut losses, can't go much lower.

Make as many spots available as possible.

Go to the draft, PSD, and even elevate a rookie if warranted.

Hit the National Draft and allow these 6 or 7 kids too develop together, and the team together over the next few years.

i think Sporn would be beautifully suited to a Crows type game...
Livo isnt a gun but gives us defensive structure. He doesnt get smashed as often as people think... Not playing him costs us.Should remain on the list as we dont have a FB anyway.
Bryan should be just played.... i really dont understand this thing they seem to have that everyone should be a coal miner.

There are prob a few others playing for there career that could be added to that list

CARLTON
Jordan Bannister: I still think Banno can contribute would rather see him take on Teagues role but he offers better height and mobility and can do other roles
Callum Chambers: Dunno he should have been something had ability and speed but seems to be another david clarke cant see him post 2006
Luke Livingston: Another sad story being number 4 pick also had injuries and back issues and seems to too easily exploited think we cut our losses
Troy Longmuir: Cant see him in AFL after this season - suffers from injuries and hasnt impacted when promoted to AFL
Ian Prendergast: Still think he can add something and maybe give him a Kouta role of a Mobile Player but also has had many chances and also struggled with injury
Trent Sporn: Dont think he can add anything to the Blues if he can be traded to aS.A Club best option for us

Add to the list
Davies: No idea with Davies as been injured not sure where he is at
Teague: Still has courage but believe to slow for AFL and be lucky to be still on the list with the new draft.
Deluca: Still not sureof him but seems to be someone the MC gives lots of oppertunity to
Wiggins: maye have done enough to hold his place
Chris Bryan: I agree with some would like to see him given some oppertunities at senior level so as to make a proper assessment would have put him in place of Deluca to see how goes
Magrath: Another who is servicable but may come under pressure from emerging kids. Seen Magrath play some good games and then play some really poor games guess will be looked at in the remaining weeks
Kouta: Believe he should retire and maybe play his last game in round 22 or maybe play out the year but rather see a kid take his place or a player we are closely looking at to see if we retain.

Agree mostly with you, Synbad. Sporn would be a good fit at Adelaide, hence their interest in him at last trade period.

Bryan is a lazy footballer. Trains with no intensity, shows little intensity on the field, and his diet off the field is ordinary as I witnessed a few weeks ago. Doesn't deserve an opportunity until he smartens up.

For me at this stage of the season:

OUT: Davies, Longmuir, Chambers, Kouta (retired)

MUST SHOW SOMETHING OR ELSE GO: Sporn, Livingston, Teague, Bryan, Prendergast, DeLuca, Saddington

RETAIN: Bannister, McGrath, Wiggins

HOW LONG WILL THE EXPERIMENT LAST?: S. o'hAilpin

SAFE: All others

Maximum of seven players to go, I reckon.

they'll be;

Kouta
Longmuir
Teague
Prenda
Sporn
Chambers
Bryan

Maybe O'Hailpin :(

New;
Pick 2, 18, 35, 51, 67 Rookie, Rookie

Livo on another 1 year deal, Deluca as a spare / spare ruck and Davies just because he costs nothing but can give something.

I agree re: O'Hailpin.....everyone talks about the small lists we have nowadays and how list management in crucial, but I have to wonder how long you persist with a bloke who is not yet a senior footballer. Is it true he is contracted for next year? If so I think that is a poor move from the club, as an unproven player such as Santy should be considered on a year by year basis. I hope he proves me wrong and plays some senior footy before the end of the year, because if not it really shows Carlton's policy of re-signing players is questionable (eg. Prendergast and Bannister this year, though perhaps Banno has shown enough to be retained)

We must axe:

DeLuca
Sporn
Chambers
Longmuir
Prendergast

We probably should axe (but probably won't):

Saddington
O'hAilpin
Teague
Livingston

We won't axe but most clubs would:

McGrath
Wiggins
French
Bannsiter
Davies

We should offer 3 year contracts to (if they are'nt already):

Bentick
Betts
Blackwell
Bower
Carazzo
Edwards
Fevola
Fisher
Kennedy
Murphy
Russell
Walker
Waite

We have paleyrs who need to play every week and arent such as:

Bryan
Russell

And an older group that are servicable such as:

Houlihan
Thornton
Lappin
Stevens
Whitnall
McLaren

All in all if we did axe 8 or 9 players we would benefit greatly from the super draft.

The question is does the coaching staff have the balls to unload 8 or 9 players now for a longer term gain?

I dont think they do.

i think they should unload 8 or 9 players but they don't have the balls to because we wont win too many games in the next 2 years (which is irrellevelant compared to the reward we'll get for it) because if that happens they'll lose their jobs
