From the AFL website

"Coach Denis Pagan raised questions about the leadership group following the club's final quarter fade-out against the Kangaroos last Friday night, and Whitnall said the criticism was warranted and taken on board.

"In those games, it's where you want the leadership group to stand up, they're the experienced ones and have been through it," he said.

"I don't think in that last quarter many of us did, so he had a word to all of the leadership group and hopefully we'll rectify it and come out and stand up this week as leaders, as a group."

Let's hope we see some improvement on this aspect this weekend

Go Blues!

Fev, Scotland and Simmo _ yes, Simmo _ have been promoted to the leadership group.

They replace Prender, Teague and Cory.

Times are a changin. :-D

Interesting that all 3 will line up in the VFL this week. Prender after getting injured has to re-earn his spot.

In the last Q last week McGrath didn't get a touch, Teague had one. Sounds like they're paying the price for our last Q fade outs.

Aaaah, the inimitable Kennyhunter graces us with his presence. Dare I ask for a source?

As for Heath "I wanna be a gangster" Scotland...well - he's a fine role model for the youngsters. Leadership is off field as well as onfield, so that surprises me a lot that he's been given the call-up. Let's hope it's a catalyst for him to get his ass into gear.

Could you elaborate on this comment a bit further, Dr.Sherrin? Are you just referring to his recent court case?

Accurate is a better word.

Fevola stocks soar - Jim Wilson.

Big step up for Simpson and I'm still surprised we've elevated a 22 year old into our leadership group.

Kade Simpson has come along way from a young bloke who couldnt touch the footy in his first couple of games...well done to him as I am one who had reservations about him even making a senior player..
Fev has come along way too and its good to see him get some reward for his efforts.....another wild child in Cam Mooney is tipped to be the next Geelong captain......could be Fevs turn down the track..
Tend to agree with Synbad about Prenda......well spoken, intelligent man who would do well at board level or in some other capacity at the club...

Great news for the club.

Fevola certainly deserves to be in the leadership group. This year he has shown that he is a more settled, more mature man and it's paying off on the field.

Scotland hasn't put a foot wrong this year and certainly works his arse off on the training track. I can only imagine that he is a mentor type figure to the younger midfielders in our team.

Huge congratulations to Kade. Thoroughly deserves it. As Elwood said, he has come a long way since get very few touches in his first few game. Will be a 200+ gamer for sure and lead our club in to it's next golden era.

With regard to my Scotland comments...I'm always applauding him for his footy efforts - by his standards he's been good - not great, good. Of all the players who receive written feedback though - his is a novel...still makes some errors that should be out of his game.

He has fitted in well to the club - difficult to remember that he played in a Grand Final for Collingwood. And I don't think Collingwood have found a player in Brent Hall - who they chose at pick 35 - what we gave them for Heath.

Footballers pay a heavy price for being constantly in the public eye. By the same token, the AFLPA teaches these boys how to behave appropriately in public...how to walk away from a potential dangerous situation and what is expected of them as citizens.

Heath Scotland is about to turn 26...now - when I was 26 I knew what sexual harrassment was, I knew not to involve myself with characters who did not have my best interests at heart and I knew when enough was enough and it was time to get in a cab and go home....I don't think as a member of the football department that I would necessarily think that Heath had matured enough to take on a role in the leadership group.

Then again - what a boon for his lawyers..."Your honour, my client has realised his mistakes and is remorseful for his actions. He has already matured enough over the last 6 months that his employer has made him a member of the clubs' leadership group - a position held in very high regard by his peers and the general public."

Hey - just my thoughts...and whilst I don't think he's deserving of it - i'll continue to applaud his good work during his working hours!

That's abit hard Dr Sherrin, not everybody matures at the same rate.
We all don't grow up in the same enviroment...

Well done Fevs and co...
