Blackwell was great,we should get 2 picks in the first round of the draft that they say the first 25 could play straight away.I reckon we should trade some older player for a first round pick,no trade for a ex player, someone like Stevens or Whitnall.

Pick 2,18 and hopefullly another pick in the top 10 as a trade or pick 1,17 and a top 10.

They were inaccurate and below full strength (Christ! :( ) which will help our percentage in the battle to avoid the spoon.

yeah this round was perfect for us Essendon* lost and we did too but our percentage is higher than theirs and we have a game in hand so 15th is looking really good atm which is ideal in that we avoid a spoon and still get a gun draft pick.

I loved that. At the time it happened I mentioned that it was good.

I agree that Houla did a good job. Acker usually burns us up big time.

young guys, blackwell, simpson, setanta, russell etc all put in. houlihan was good in a negating role

'almost' eddie needs to make sure his hands are cleaner.

o, yeah, SUPERMAN RETURNS kicked ass too.

yeah eddie has to take his chances when they come. the only reason he's in this team is so he can crumb and kick goals and do exciting things but everytime he gets a chance he fumbles, he always looks dangerous and lively, but looking dangerous doesnt help if you dont do anything, but full credit to him for always trying his hardest.

No worries Jars. Usually some of your remarks are sarcastic, plus I haven't been the same since I heard the news about BB. Apologies if I sounded mean/harsh on you.

yeah, he almost lays the tackle, almost evades the man, almost takes the mark, almost picks up the ball, almost kicks the goal...man it gets annoying...but still, they played good football at times tonight and i do believe we are beginning to head in the right direction, good to see.

i am however not overlooking the lions inaccuracy or lack of brown, always a tough assignment brisbane, no matter their position. we 'almost' pulled it off.

in 3 or 4 years time we'll be looking back at this match and saying that it was lucky we ended up losing and i know its getting very hard because we've benn doing it for the last 4 years but the end of the tunnel is near we just need to be a little bit more patient and persevere a little bit mroe while enjoying the development of our youngsters because if we're not excited by that we might as well follow soccer.

Agreed Patience is the key now some good signs emerging and we can start to see some piecs in the jigsaw come togther

Havnt been belted by over 100 points nearly but not so far this season compared to previous seasons

Played much more competatively and stringing some good quarters togther though tonite was a very stop start match but previous 2 matches where good.

Great emergence of young kids stepping up Simmo / Betts / Blackers / Russell / Murphy shame about injury / walker / Bentick ect

In waiting Kennedy and some untried talent in VFL

now its to get more game time another preseason and some more quality additions from the next draft

only direction we can go is up from now on

Good point sami, Houlihan played a great game on Acker.

Ryan can be pencilled in now as a 200 game player for the Blues.

Sarcasm? =/

:? No, he held Acker to only a 9 possies and 1 mark, kept tight on him all night, he played really well, no sarcasm.

and aker held him to 10 possies

Considering he was playing a hard tag the whole game Houla did very well.

Considering Brisbane ended up trying to tag Houla with Copeland to get him off Acker & tried to get him onto Betts (without suceess) says how well he did.

Houla had a great night on Aker, won the night easily.
Simpson, Blackwell, Carazzo, Bentick at the ball constantly.
Lance was good again.
DeLuca has improved in leaps and bounds (not that there was much room to go downhill, really).
Defensive pressure in F50 is improving.

Biggest positive for mine was that Setanta was composed in his role, loved it.

He may have been composed, but I didn't think he did that well, to be honest. He tried all match, which is something, just didn't quite have it all together

He got 2 and a half quarters by my count, not bad considering it's his 3rd game at this level and his first in a completely different role.

Didn't say it was outstanding, just happy that he came on and did his job with a minimum of fuss. Actually looked cool and collected compared to others at times. :)

Murphy will miss at least the next two games according to Pagan.

"That's the first time our Irish recruit (Setanta O'hAilpin) has been on the ground for that long and that was certainly a positive. It was very positive for Luke Blackwell, in his fourth game, to play the way he did, and just the growth of the young kid," Pagan said. "They may sound like half-baked positives but you know, we've got nothing else to cling to (there's) a group of probably 15 to 17 guys who are going to play together for a long while, probably going to play together for 10 or 12 years, and I hope nobody will remember these dim dark days that we're going through at the moment."
