Fev was terrific.

Loved his comments when questioned on how he’d feel if Akermanis came to Carlton. Adament he didn’t want Aker. Emphatic that we push the “youth policyâ€

Sydney wouldn't want him. Wouldn't fit into their no flower policy!

This must be a new policy .. coz none of the current list fit that mold!

No club is going to publicly come out and say they want him as Brisbane is going to make life hard for him (maybe fair enough too). If they hold out on him he may go to the team that finishes 16th!!

Check out these pearls of wisdom from Fev:

"I don't think that I would like to have him at the club,'' Fevola told 3AW last night.

"He's a bit too old to be at our club. I would rather get a young kid that we can groom and hopefully turn him into an Akermanis.

"But I don't think we can afford to have older players at our club. I don't think that's the path we are going down.

"Hopefully they don't get him because I think we need some young guns.''

I agree with your sentiments, Fev.

I think he's still under contract, so he'd have to retire, and sit out for a year before coming back uncontracted into the ND or PSD.

It said in the article that he and the Lions had agreed to terms to depart - I dont know wether that means they have agreed to terminate the contract at seasons end ot wether Brisbane would still be out to trade him

It is believed Carlton and Essendon* were the first to express interest, but the battling clubs' boards may not approve going for a senior trade.

Believing what is written in articles is like believing in the tooth fairy. Brisbane's biggest bargaining chip is his contract. Aker has three choices, stays at Brisbane, goes to where Brisbane can get the best deal or he retires.

This site survives off links to newspapers - so what that saying

What I was eluding to is if the two parties come to terms can they tear up the contract and can Aker become a free agent or does he have to see out the terms regardless and a trade negotiated

Nice to see that Fev is the "wise old sage" of the "media comment world" isn't it!?!?

Fev's on the money...

The article suggesting Carlton is interested is a good sign!....Hopefully Carlton has said "So what's happening with him"...I want Carlton to know everything that's going on as that's the way you know who is a maybe, likely and what the market values are and what are they doing etc...
beyond that Carlton won't pick up Aker in a pink fit.

Deals are deals and anything can happen..BUT Brisbane is in the box seat here....Aker is in more shit than a werribee duck....and he won't be able to bide his time for his contract to expire....gee his last contract negotiation (burning the Sydney bridge and getting an extra year) looked good at the time and looks very ordinary now.

Essendon*, though may be interested...gee if they can convince Hird to paly another year, and Lloyd will be back from injury, and the Johnsons get over their niggles and Stanton gets another year under his belt ...and they'll pick up a gun in the draft (1st pick in the pre-season draft according to Sheedy the master coach)...then they are a monty for the 2007 flag
